Chapter 7: Missing

AUBREY'S POV:

She couldn't know. She just couldn't.
She wouldn't just leave me here.

All the wounds and burns from the beatings get more and more painful everyday.

I need to tell her. I can't live like this.

I look up at myself in the mirror. I don't see myself any more. All I can see are the cuts and bruises that are imprinted on my body.

I need to run away.

I can't bare to live like this anymore. I needed to escape this abuse. The pain was to much to bare.

I need to run away.

"It's your fault Emma left" my Aunt would say and then slap me. "You're worthless" She would tell me.

That was the last straw, I was going to run away. This was it.

I packed light and left, leaving my past behind.

Where will I go?

EMMAS POV:

I woke up the next morning with a pair of arms wrapped around my waist and my head in someones chest. I didn't pull away, I just held on tighter.

I look up to see a sleeping Gerard and I must say, it was adorable. I laughed to myself and closed my eyes once again. Then I felt Gerard's breath slow. I assumed he was awake. He smiled at me and I smiled back.

Then Gerard looked at me like he had seen a ghost. He detached his arms from my waist and sat up in the bed.

"O-oh" he said wide eyed.

He got up and roughed up his hair. He started pacing the room, staring contently at the ground. He looked worried.

He came over to the bed and sat down. "I-I'm sorry, it's just...I just broke up with my girlfriend."

I remembered what Mikey told me.

"O-oh" I said a bit disappointed.

"I should probably get going" I told him.

"No Emma wait."

But I didn't wait. I got up from the bed, grabbed my clothes and headed towards the door. I was stopped by Mikey but I kept going.

Well that was embarrassing.

Though I had no idea where I was going, I got into my car and left. I had no destination, I just drove.

It wasn't that I was mad at Gerard, I was more just...disappointed. I guess I shouldn't have expected him to just forget about his ex-girlfriend all together.

I decided to call Frank and see if he wanted to go see a movie or something since I didn't was to be by myself for the rest of the weekend. He accepted and we were going to meet in two hours for lunch.

I went home and got ready then took off. We ended up eating at Panera because it was close to the theatre.

"So how was you night at the Ways?" Frank asked a bit teasingly.

"Well I had the weirdest dream about Aubrey last night, and then Gerard suggested that I should call her just to catch up. Turns out she quit the drinking and got back into school." I said.

After that we just had random conversation about Franks neighbor who has 8 cats.

The more I tried to get into the conversation, the more I thought about this morning. I wanted to know more about Gerard's ex-girlfriend and why they broke up. It was constantly in the back of my mind and I knew it would stay there until I brought it up.

"Frank can I ask you a question?"

"Fire away"

"Do you know anything about Gerard's old relationship?"

"Yeah, why?" Frank looked at me with a weird look on his face.

Do I tell him?

"W-well he uhh..."

He laughed at me. "Spit it out Emma."

I cleared my throat "I...He uh slept with me. And I left because h-he wasn't ready." I could feel my cheeks getting red.

Frank suddenly had a glimpse of anger in his eyes "He what?"

"N-no not like that. Just sleeping. But when he woke up he got all paranoid."

He sighed. "Gerard's ex-girlfriend's name was Lindsey. He thought that she was the one he was gonna marry. But then she had to cheat on him with some douchebag named Bob."

"How long were they together?" I asked.

"Give or take 2 years" Frank shrugged.

"Oh"

I guess it made sense that he would freak out like that. I felt bad for leaving but I didn't know what to do.

"Well I think we should get to that movie, it starts in 10 minutes." Frank suggested.

"I guess we should" I said half laughing.

"Well that movie sucked" Frank said.

"I know, it had nothing to do with the book at all!" I laughed.

"We gotta go to work tomorrow so we should leave." I told him

"Okay, bye best friend!" He said with the biggest smile I had ever seen.

"Bye Frank"

When I got home I did my regular night routine. I changed into some more comfortable clothes and sat down on my couch. I binge watched some 'Doctor Who' then went get some water. When I sat back down I got a phone call from an unidentified number. It was from the state where I used to live. I picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Emma it's your Aunt."

"Oh, hey...What do you need?

"Emma its your sister."

My stomach turned when she said those words.

"W-whats wrong?"

There was a long pause until she spoke up.

"She's gone."

Hey guys, it Joanna. I went back and made small changes in the past chapters just because I was reading them and it was kinda hard to read so hopefully it's easier now. :) Im sorry that everything is so jumbled up right now but everything will soon fall into place. :)
