Chapter 19. Sick Mikan

Natsume's Pov

I remembered everything, from when I met Mikan, my first crush. Then her mom came into my head, from when she was crying and told me that her husband died and that at Mikan lost some of her memories. Coming back to the present her mom and I just stared at each other for a while.

"You," I said in an almost wavering voice. "Mikan is," but then stopped. I covered my eyes with my Raven colored hair and just looked at the ground. "Natsume, I'm so sorry." Polka's or Mikan's mom said, her eyes looked as if she was about to start crying.

"I'm leaving." I said and grabbed my stuff and left.

Mikan's Pov

Natsume got his stuff and left, shutting the door with a loud slam. It was quiet for a long time until I spoke up. "Mom, do you know Natsume?" I asked in an almost whisper. "N-no, honey I don't." She replied. I knew she was lying, but it looked like she didn't want to remember so I just let it go. For now.

"Alright," I said. "I'm going to do my homework." I said and ran up the stairs. In my room I shut the door and put my back against the door. So mom knew Natsume before? I don't remember ever seeing him though. I thought to myself.

I tried to think from back when I was little to see if a remember if I saw a little Natsume, but my head started to hurt so I just stopped trying to remember. I layed down on my bed and just laid there for about 15 minutes thinking.

Then I got up and changed my clothes, I let my braids fall free and took off my glasses. After changing I digged through my backpack for my math homework. When I finally found it I set it on my desk and grabbed my pencil from my little pencil holder. Then I started to do the first problem.

After about 45 minutes later I was only on question 3 out of 35. I've been to busy thinking about Natsume and mom and how they knew each other. Shaking my head furiously and slapping my cheeks to get myself together, I finally started to concentrate in my homework.

At 8:34 I was finally done and I took a shower, and brushed my teeth. I was currently in my bed trying to fall asleep. The thought of Natsume and my mom knowing each other kept on being on my mind all evening and I couldn't stop thinking about it.

I sighed in frustration, my head really hurt now so I just rolled over, grabbed my little cupcake plushy and tried to fall asleep.

I woke up to the sound of my mom coming in my room. "Mikan, get up." She said softly. I got up but my head suddenly hurt really bad. Holding my head I said, "mom, I don't think I can go to school today." I mumbled. "What's wrong honey? Are you sick?" Asked my mom.

She felt my forehead and made a pained face. "You're feeling a little hot. You should stay home from school today." She said. I nodded and went back under the covers to sleep some more, feeling a little dizzy still.

I suddenly woke up to my mom waking me up again. "Mikan, here's some medicine. Also I called the school and told them that you are sick." She said, handing me a small pill and some water. I nodded and grabbed the medicine and water. "What about work?" I asked weakly. She smiled at me and said, "I took a day off."

I nodded in response and gulped down the medicine, feeling refreshed after drinking some water. "Mom?" I asked weakly. "Yes?" She answered. "Can you please tell me how you know Natsume?" I asked in a whisper. I heard my mom sigh and said, "maybe soon Mikan. I'm sorry but just not now." She said. "Alright, sorry I asked." I said and fell back asleep almost immediately.
