                                                                   Adam

Well, I am thoroughly disappointed. Turns out Gwen did not come to the party I went to and went to another party. I thought Cerise and Alex were working together. Instead Alex threw a freshmen kickoff party. Alex wants me to “hint” to Gwen that I like her. I’m picturing flirting but she says to not flirt.

After helping out Alex with the dishes, I move on upstairs to my room. I see Cerise’s party is just ending and I see Gwen.

“Hey, Gwen. How was the party?”

“It was amazing! How was your party?”

“Eh. But the freshmen had fun.”

“Of course. That’s all that matters, right?”

“Right.”

A silent pause.

“Well. I’m going to go to bed now. Goodnight, Adam.” Gwen says.

“Wait, Gwen.”

“Yeah?”

Only stutters come out, darn me!

“I wuh-was wuh-wond-ering if you would li-like to ge-get some cof-fee.”

A big smile appears on Gwen’s face and that makes me relax.

“Sure. When?”

“Right after school? I know a good place.”

“Okay, great! I’ll meet you in the courtyard.”

After she turns away down the hall, I do a silent victory dance.

Alex comes up the stairs wiping her hands on her shirt and smiling mischievously at me.

“Time to get down and dirty.”

“Uhh, what?”

She walks over to my room and opens the door.

“What are you doing?”

She peeks in and confirms that no one is in there.

“We need to go through Bertram’s things. We need to find a picture.”

It takes me just a split second to understand what she’s talking about.

“You want to find the picture?”

“Yes.”

I agree to help her. Darcy Bertram is a brat and he shouldn’t have done that to Gwen last year.

“Why do you need to find the picture?”

“Ginny Richardson tells me I have till tomorrow to find proof that the picture is fake.”

“And?”

“Once I have the picture in my hands I’ll confront Darcy and ask him if it’s real or fake and if he doesn’t answer, I’ll rip the picture up. But I already know it’s fake.”

“I don’t think I quite understand.”

“If all else fails, I’ll get rid of the proof and make Ginny think that the incident never happened.”

“What? Do you really think she believe that?”

“Ginny’s stupid.”

“Yeah, but surely not that stupid.”

“Got it!”

“If Darcy confesses it’s fake then I’ll have him say that to Ginny.”

She shows me a picture the of a napkin. Gwen looks so young. She’s sitting down at a table and right next to her is a bong. It looks like she’s really using it. There’s smoke too.
