Maya's POV:
"Riles c'mon?!??!"
"We're gonna get kidnapped I tell you! She'll make us her maids!"
"Riles you've been on the subway before." I say and chuckle at the same time.
"Yes, but that was when we were careless 13 year olds. And two years is a long time for the New York City subways to change, my friend." She replies. Yep. She's a 15 year old who's afraid of subways. That's my Riley. I make my puppy dog face.
"Ok fine. The things I do for you Maya Hart." She smiled and I did back.
We walk into the subway, which is packed so we held onto a pole just like we did in 7th grade. I see a mother with a screaming baby. I instantly think of mom. I love her but I never see her in the day. She's like... half a mom. This thinking stops when I see a boy. He's sitting down reading. He must've seen me staring at him because he returned the gesture with a smile
"Riles can you wait a minute?"
"YOU'RE LEAVING ME?!??!?!" She deafeningly shrieked.
"Don't worry it's just to meet mystery boy over there." I say. Her eyes widened. She smiled awkwardly and giggled.
"Riley are you thinking about pizza again?"
"Boy. Agoobwa"
"You do know you can talk to him, right? This ain't the 90s ya know." I told her but she didn't seem to hear. She just kept staring. I walked up to him.
"Hi I'm Maya. That girl over there is Riley."
"I'm Lucas Friar." He says and smiles.
He's cute.
