Chapter 17

Lucas's POV:
I don't eat. I don't sleep. I don't do anything. I can't just forget the fact that I did what I did. But here's the thing, I only did it so Missy wouldn't hurt Maya. I stayed inside the house so much, my mom kicked me out.
I know I seem attached but once Maya Hart is in your life she is in your life forever. As I'm walking to the subway I see something. It's Maya.
Maya's POV:
I walk and walk until I reach Topanga's and sit on the outside bench and start to think a lot.
If this is what life is like without Lucas, I don't know how to live. I know everyone says I'm too young to fall in love but I know. He knows. And I also know I need to get over him. I just can't seem to do it. But there has to be a reason for this. Because if I know Lucas I know for sure he'd never in an infinity amount of time, hurt me. I love him so much. All this thinking makes me so sad and I ball up and let the tears run free. Just as I'm starting I hear someone coming.
"Baby girl are you ok?" My mom asks as she sits and wraps me in her arms.
"Lucas cheated on me," I say.
"I'll kill him."
"It's ok Riley punched him."
"SHE DID WHAT!"
Lucas's POV:
I caused that. I did that to the girl I love.
Time skip to next day:
Maya's POV:
Ughhh. One word. School. Absolutely dreading it. Worst of all, I have to face Lucas. The alarm clock destroys my sleeping schedule. I punch it every time and it just becomes scraps of metal. I get up on my feet and go to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I then get dressed and go over to the Matthews' because Riley's suspension is over. I put on my fake smile for the day and take a deep breath before I go in.
"Hey, losers. Riles, lets go!"
"Maya, eat! And I'm not asking."
"Fine," I sit next to Riley, "You excited to learn again?"
"Yes, absolutely, positively," she gets up to make her statement more intense,"SUPER EXCITED TO LEARN ONCE AND FOR ALL!"
"You missed school, peaches?"
"Yes. I love school so much I would grab it and kiss it on the face."
"Great, can you fill in for me?"
"Oh, Maya. Peaches," She swoops down and wraps me in her arms.
"Riles, really I'm fi-"
"It's okay Maya now. LET'S GO TO SCHOOL!" She grabs my arms and we run to the subway.
On the subway:
"No signs of him. And Maya if he is here or if he gets near you I will slaughter him a thousand times."
"Riley the principal said you aren't allowed to be around within 60 feet of him for thirty days."
"Oh yeah." She answers as the subway stops. We get off and walk to school. It's not the same when I'm walking to history alone. You see, Riley went to a different history class because of the whole Lucas thing. hopefully Farkle will be there to comfort me. I take another deep breath before I go in. I see him. He's standing there and his eyes are on me like he's been watching the door for the longest time, waiting for me.
"Hi," I say.
"Hi." The whole class gathers around us and watches.
"I didn't see you on the subway."
"Yeah, my mom drove me. Do, uh, you wanna go talk somewhere private maybe?"
"No, I don't want to miss class." of course I wanna miss class. I can't learn at all with all of this on my mind. I sit and Mr. Matthews comes in.
"First off," he begins,"Maya, you will have to do some particular activity to make up for your lackluster skills in science."
"But it's science: you learn how animals crawl and why earthquakes happen. The answer has always been magical ninjas."
"No buts. I suggest you audition for the school musical."
"Well Mr. Matthews, I think not."
"Maya, you have to."
"It's not High School Musical here, ok. I won't break out singing with a bunch of kids who magically have no acne, work a summer job in a country club for a rich brat, and choose between singing or love my senior year," I state. "Because we all know how well love turns out for me," I mumble under my breath.
"You watched those movies?" Everyone asks.
"Of course I did, they're amazing."
"Well, Maya I think it would be good for you to try something new, discover a new talent."
"Fine," I say then we finally begin the lesson.
Time skip to after history:
Lucas's POV:
I'm walking to math class and then I get pulled into the janitor's closet. It's Maya. She pulls me nose to nose.
"Listen, Huckleberry I fell in love with you and you hurt me. And I'm still on the path to flying out of love town so listen to me, and you listen to me very, very well, don't make me fall back in love with you, ok?"
"I need to explain."
"There's no explanation for it."
"Yes there is."
"We'll my explanation for dragging you in here is that I still love you. A lot. But I can't get you kissing Missy out of my head. That was when my heart stopped. Like the time I first met you. That night was the start of when I spent every waking second thinking about you. I still do."
"Well how do you expect to fall out of love when you're so deeply in it?"
"I'll find a way." She said and stormed out.
After school auditions:
Maya's POV:
I made sure Riley was with me when I auditioned. Im absolutely dreading the poop nuggets out of this. I'm singing a song for her.

We walk in and I get up on stage.
"Hi Miss Garcia I'm Maya Hart auditioning for the role of Cordelia," I begin and throw on a fake British accent,"Leo, thou hast deeply fallen in love. I wish to run from this madness of a village and take your hand in marriage." Then I say a bunch of other weird words.
"Now for the singing portion," she says.
"This ones for Riley," I say and smile at her.

I finish and Riles go crazy in the crowd.

I go back down and hug her tight. Friendships like this don't come flying around like balloons. I'm grateful for Riley.
