16 years later
JASON
Jason tuks his school shirt into his skirt and fixes his collar on his uniform. He's been up for at least 4 hours, which is nothing new to him. Sleep is a thing he doesn't get much of lately. Outside his door Jay can hear his siblings making their way downstairs.
He sighs and takes another look in the mirror running his hand through his hair. He dyed the tips of it white just the other day to his siblings horror. The memory of how shocked they were makes him smile. Maybe to them it's wierd, but he loves his hair. Besides he figures white hair is as close to mimicking their blonde locks as he can get.
"JAY, COME DOWN ALREADY OR YOU'LL MAKE US LATE. Again"
It's Jared. He says that last part softly but Jay can still hear it.
Taking a deep breath Jay walks into his bathroom and searches the table for it. Except he can't find it. Very annoyed Jay makes his way to the door.
JENNA
Jay finally comes downstairs looking seriously unhappy. He walks through the kitchen and joins them at the table.
"Have any of guys seem my mascara?" He says.
Jenna meets his eye.
"You mean the new liquid one we got last week?" She asks.
Jay nods.
"Did you check your room?" Jared asks sarcastically.
Jay rolls his eyes.
"Geeh Jared. I didn't think of doing that" he says.
Jenna laughs,no one can beat Jay at sarcasm. As her brothers begin to argue Jenna can't help but notice how different they are. Jared is mischievous and kind of untidy. His hair is in this phantom state only he can manage where it looks both messy and neat all at once. Jason on the other hand is tidy and takes time working on how he looks. When they're at school Jason is the kind of person who commands attention just by breathing.
Jay's uniform is neat and has a bunch of pins and some ribbons in it. Jareds uniform is one size too big.Today's the first day of school and like every other student in the world Jenna is not looking foward to it.
Breakfast is a spread of eggs, pork sausages, toast, chocolate muffins and a whole bunch of fruits some of which are not even in season yet. Mum always makes Antwan go all out when it comes to breakfast. But I guess that's what you do when you're rich enough to hire a personal chef.
"Hey kids" Dad says walking in.
He's wearing a suit, he never wears a suit. He calls them "uncomfortable and annoying".
"Hey dad" Jay says.
"What's with the suit?" Jared asks.
Jacob looks down at himself like he forgot that he has it on.
"I have a whole day full of meetings with potential investors for your moms new drug" he says.
"The kidney one?" Jenna asks.
"Sweetheart it's the greatest tissue reparing drug ever created by human hands."
"So...the kidney one" Jay repeats.
Dad sighs and pours a glass of grape juice.
"Yes, the kidney one" he says.
At that moment mom comes downstairs carrying a very fussy Sung in her arms. She sets him in his high chair.
"You guys ready for school?" She asks.
"Relax mom we won't be late again." Jared says with muffin in his mouth.
She grabs a bowl of yellow mush and sets it in front of Sung. He raises his arms and says a bunch of gibberish only another toddler can understand. Mom takes a spoon of the mush and points it towards him.
"What is that?" Jenna asks.
"Crushed pumpkin and papaya" mum answers. "It's all he wants to eat these days"
Sung slaps the spoon out of moms hands and laughs.
"Or at least it used to be" she says.
Jareds potchet rings and he pulls out his phone.
"We have to get going if we want to make it in time."
Jay looks up from his food and his eyes shoot upstairs.
"I have to find my mascara" he says getting up.
"The liquid one?" Mom asks as he rushes upstairs.
"Yep" he shouts behind him.
JASON
He can't find it, where the hell is it?. Jay searches through all the cosmetics and toiletries on his table for the hundredth time. Annoyance grows inside him.
"JAY. LETS GO!" Jared shouts from downstairs again.
"I'M COMING!" He shouts back.
Maybe he lost it?, that would be a satisfactory explanation. But considering how he can clearly remember putting it in here yesterday that's not likely. Jay gets on his knees and checks under the table.
"Fucking hell" he exclaims.
"Jason. You're gonna be late for school" mom says poking her head through the door.
"I can't find it" he complains announce turning to anger.
"Jason just leave it okay." She says and disappears.
Jay looks back at his stupid table like it's somehow to blame. Inside him he can feel his anger growing. Hearing Jared call him once again Jay glares at the table again and it rocks backwards really hard causing everything on it to fall over.
Jay stands still staring at it confused. He didn't touch it...so how?
"Jesus tap dancing Christ Jason can we go to school already" A very angry Jared says at the door.
Jay looks from him to the table amd back at him again.
"Yeah, yeah sorry" he says and makes his way to the door.
But just as he's about to leave Jay looks back at the table and asks himself the question again. If he didn't touch it, then how did the table move?.
