Jarred
"I hate this." Jarred tells his sister.
"Really? Could you say it agian I didn't hear you the first 100 times." Jenna hisses as she steps into the window washer.
Jarred looks at the thing and wonders why the hell someone would agree to spend the day on the rickety thing scrubbing windows of all thibgs.
"Mom and dad will spend millions paying off the city to let them build a fucking park but they can't spring for an automatic way to clean their windows?" He says.
Jenna sighs.
"Would you quit stalling and get on before someone catches us." She says.
Jarred sighs and says a silent prayer before stepping beside his sister. She grabs the little remote thing attached to it.
"And awaaayyy we go." She says smilling at him.
"Sorry sis but not even a Rick Sanchez reference will make this experience better." Jarred says as they begin to move up.
The contraption is slow, which makes it both less and more scary. Jarred keeps his eyes on their target and chooses to focus on what's above him and not what's below.
"Hey Jarred..." Jenna says.
"I swear to God Jennifer Penelope Knight if you saw 'don't look down' I will throw your ass off this thing." Jarred warns.
"Geez, sometimes you really sound like Jason." Jenna says.
Before long they come to a halt and Jarreds queasy stomach begins to lurch.
"Were here." Jenna says. "Oh oh." She says.
"What is it?" Jarred asks but as he looks beside them he sees what the problem is.
The window washer brought them up to their parents floor but the balcony is like half a metre away.
"Shit." Jarred exclaims.
"Okay relax, it's not that far we can make it." Jenna says.
"Oh you are crazy if you think I'm jumping." Jarred says.
"Don't be such a scardy cat Jarred it's not that far." Jenna says.
"Okay then you have fun jumping Jenna because I am staying right here." Jarred says.
Jenna groans.
"And you're supposed to be the older one." She complains.
Jenna stands at the edge of the lift and climbs on the railing.
"Careful" Jarred warns.
"Oh relax I've got it." Jenna says.
She takes a deep breath and stretches her foot over the space to the railing on the balcony. Her foot slips a bit but eventually she gets a strong foot hold and pushes herself off gripping the balcony railing for dear life. Jenna climbs over it and stands safe and sound on the solid balcony floor.
"See, piece of cake." She says looking at Jarred.
But dispite her face upbeat attitude he sees trauma in her eyes.
"Your turn." Jenna says.
"Nah uh you have fun I'll wait here." He says.
"Jarred I can't do this without you." Jenna says.
Jarred makes the mistake of looking down. His lurching stomach finally gives out and he sends his last meal spilling out of him.
"Okay, that's uh a good sign...I think." Jenna says.
