"What?"

Nathan's silence to my question only fueled my rage more.

"What the fuck are you sorry for?!" I left my hold on his cloth, making him fall abruptly to the ground in weakness.

He didn't make an effort to stand up instead, he just settled on the lawn.

"For... breaking up with Hannah."

My eyes widened in shock at his unexpected confession.

"You did what?!" I asked him not believing my ears.

"Yes, I had to break up with her," He said putting a hand on his slightly swollen cheek.

"So that's what you wanted to say to her on that night." I wasn't asking, but he still nodded as if it weren't his fault at all.

Taking a deep breath, I strode closer to him. "Nathan, now tell me everything. What happened when you last met Hannah."

He hesitantly nodded his head, understanding that I won't be repeating myself.

"I had visited Hannah by her shop when nobody was around. I told her to meet me on that cliff where we usually met."

He looked at the sky and closed his eyes. "She was a little tensed seeing me serious but agreed to it anyway. We met at our place exactly at the planned time. I told her that I couldn't do this anymore and that I-my parents wanted me to marry Madeline, my father's friend's daughter."

I shook my head in disappointment.

He continued, "I had disagreed at first, but then... my father threatened to fire me from his company and cut off my ties with my family. So, I finally gave in and decided to marry whomever they wanted me to."

What a wimp.

I became disgusted with myself for trusting this guy who didn't even make an effort to stand up for somebody he loved.

"You seriously didn't think about my sister even for once?" I clenched my fists to control myself.

His eyes widened as he noticed my sudden change in tone. "Levi, I d-did. I still feel bad thinking about her-"

"You feel bad? That's the most you feel about Hannah?" I was trying my best to stay calm, but he was making it more difficult with the passing of each minute.

"No, no, that's not what I meant." He emphasized his words by shaking his hands in denial. "I meant that. I don't know how to say it-I miss her."

"Like hell you do!" I snapped.

He looked at me. "Believe me, Levi. I do!"

"It doesn't matter anymore, you fucking broke her heart!" I kicked a pebble dissipating a little part of my frustration.

"But she-I don't think she would kill herself because of that!" He yelled, taking me aback.

"W-What was her reaction after the break up?" I asked in urgency.

"Uhm-" He looked like he was trying to recollect the memories. "She-she looked heartbroken." His eyes widened when he realized what he had said.

He coughed, spitting out blood. "I mean, she did look a little broken but-but she won't-"

"Enough." My voice was feeble, but he still heard me clear.

Now, I hesitantly connected all the dots, which pointed towards only one direction-Hannah did commit suicide.

I didn't want to admit that my sister would jump off a cliff just because a guy had dumped her, but... I was left with no other logical explanation.

I wasn't the one to trust anyone and definitely not anyone with Hannah, but I somehow had trusted Nathan.

There was something about Nathan that easily made everybody believe him. But, with Hannah being dead, I had lost the last of my self-controlling aspect, and I was going nuts.

I wanted to believe that Hannah wouldn't end her precious life over an idiot like Nathan, but then again, it might've been an impulsive decision by her part.

My sister was a little sensitive, and her impulsive decisions were innumerable.

As much as it hurt me to admit, I almost believed that Hannah ended her life without thinking about us.

I kneeled on the earth, staring straight into Nathan's bloodshot eyes. "I'm trusting what you've said, but if it proves to be wrong then-" I chuckled humourlessly. "You better pray that I never find out about your lies."

I stood up and brushed off the grass from my jeans. "And get up quick, your fiancé is waiting for you."

He froze for a second before he turned his head and found the girl, whom I assumed to be Madeline, standing by the doorway.

He weakly stood back on his feet. "Levi I-"

"Never," I cut him off. "I repeat, never in the lifetime of your pathetic existence, dare to be in my sight again." I warned him, taking a step closer.

I tapped his shoulder and nodded at him.

"I might not be this lenient the next time."
