"I don't think I can eat these anymore," Joshua mumbled, chewing a buttered slice of bread.
"Yeah, Josh is right." Asher supported, "Even I'm done with this bread."
I understood what they meant.
But we didn't have any other option.
Dennis shook his head, staring into nothing in particular, "We should've just learned to cook something."
"But Hannah didn't-" I stopped my sentence, "We... we'll do something about it." I assured my brothers.
We had willfully ignored talking about Hannah as if we had gotten over the sorrow, but the truth was that we hadn't, and I doubt, we would ever will.
So, in the meantime, we just opted to complain about our food issue as a distraction from everything.
"I'm seriously worried about our health now," Seth said, not taking his eyes of the newspaper, "I had once read that consuming too much white bread can contribute to obesity, heart disease, and diabetes and I don't think we need any of that."
We stayed silent for a moment, giving it a thought.
"Guys, I know someone," Joshua nervously suggested.
"Huh?" We looked at him, perplexed.
"Uh, we know that food is a prominent issue in our house right now." He elaborated, "So I meant that I know someone who can help us with that."
Asher frowned, "Like a chef?"
Joshua nodded, "Yeah something like that, so what do you guys say?"
Asher shrugged, "I'm fine with this as long as we get good food."
"I see no issue with this suggestion, so I'm okay with it too," Seth stated.
Dennis nodded, "I guess me too."
I stood up, finishing my breakfast, "And I agree because you all are fine with it."
"Perfect!" Joshua grinned.
Giving into desperation, we didn't question Joshua's unusual suggestion and behavior.
