I stood behind Kate as she ordered her pizza.
"2 slices with some scrambled on top please, thanks,"
The cashier noticed the disgusted look on my face when she added the "some scrambled on top please", he pretended he didn't notice and his eyes went back to Kate.
"Are you gonna order?" Kate looked back at me, I just raised my eyebrows at her.
"What?"
"Order, or I'll do it for you,"
"I can pay for my own mea-"
"I know you can, but this one's on me, order," I stepped towards the counter and give the cashier my usual, pepperoni and peppers. Kate pays, and we walk to a booth. Wait... not just a booth.
"This is where we met.." I stop in front of it. Kate sits down and I watch her like she's going to explode.
"Waita' state the obvious, (L/N), a real Sherlock Holmes," she smirked at me and motioned to the seat across from her. Cautiously, I slid into the seat. Why would she want to come here, and sit in this seat out of all seats?
"Why did you choose this place? This seat? Why are we here?" I put my palms on the table, trying not to slam them.
"Woah there, Mr. Detective, we're here because you said we're hungry, I chose this booth because it was the only one with a window, and we're here because, as I said, you said you were hungry." my mouth hung open, trying to respond but failing. I was just about ready to say something when the waiter came over, carrying our food.
We ate in silence. Both of us take bites of our pizza every now and then while staring at the falling snow outside the window.
"So are we gonna talk about your little outburst?" Kate's sudden comment made me jump in my seat.
"It wasn't an outburst," I mutter, taking a bite of my pizza.
"Come on, (L/N), admit it,"
"Admit what?"
"You know what," she smirks at me, and takes a bite of her disgusting eggs. I stare at her for a while, going over it all in my head. How did she know I had feelings for her? There was no way. Unless Clint told her. He probably did. He may be hard of hearing but that doesn't stop him from hearing everything. "So?-you gonna admit it to me?" Kate says, sounding almost condescending.
"Fine, okay! I'll say it. Maybe I do have feelings for you!" I didn't realize how loud I was confessing my feelings, what I did notice, was the shocked look on Katie's face. "What? That's what you wanted to hear, wasn't it?" I sound mad, really mad.
"I thought you were jealous of me, not that you had-that-" Kate's stare made her look like she was lost, lost in thought? Maybe, but probably not.
"Are you kidding me? Me? Jealous of you?" suddenly tears were streaming down my face, and I was standing up.
"(Y/N)-wait-" I wasn't listening to a thing she was saying. I was walking out the door, into the freezing air, with snow that had now turned into freezing rain. I heard the door open and close behind me.
"Kate, I don't want to talk to you," I stop walking, but I don't turn around. I knew my makeup was running down my face, I didn't want her seeing me like that.
"Wait- you-"
"Oh, let me guess, you want your jacket back?" I unbutton it and turn around. Trying to keep my hair covering my face. I held out the jacket, waiting for her to take it, but she never did. "Take the fucking jacket, Kate," We stood there in the pouring rain, and I finally looked up, just to see her 4 inches away from my face, moving my soaking wet blonde hair out of my face. "What're you doing-"
"What I should've done a long time ago," and just like that, her freezing cold hands gently wrapped around my neck-her lips met mine. Nothing but the taste of her lips crossed my mind. Not the fact that we were both drenched. Not the fact that I had to stand on my tiptoes a little to reach her. Not the fact that I had dropped her jacket. Just her.
