The knock at the door made me jump. Checking my watch, 2:45.

"You're early," I say walking over to the closed door, glancing at Kate.

"I'm aware" I open the door and see the redhead in tight black jeans and a black leather jacket.

"Going for an incognito look tonight, I see?" I step aside and motion for her to come in. "Nat, this is Katie," I won't lie, I was nervous for them to meet, and by the look on Kate's face, she was too.

"Nat?" Kate's concerned expression was replaced by a smug one.

"Natasha, Katie?" Nat stuck her hand out to shake Kate's, an even smugger look on her face.

"Kate," the smugness was wiped off her face with the nickname, and she turned away from Natasha's hand, focusing back on her baking.

"We should go-we'll miss our movie," I make a desperate attempt to break the two apart.

"No no, (Y/N), I got here early so I could meet your little partner," Nat looked at me, the smug look on her face still remaining.

"We're not partners" Kate turns back around once again and slams her hands on the counter.

"Okay, we should really go, Nat," I grab her jacket sleeve and pull her towards the door.

"Nice meeting you, Katie!" she yells as we leave the apartment and close the door.

"Natasha I'd-use-your-last-name-if-I-knew-it!" I laugh as soon as the door clicks shut. "I can't believe you just did that-"

"I knew you were holding in laughter, (Y/N), that just made it 10x funnier," she laughs along with me and we head to the elevator.

"I'll admit it, I was terrified for you two to meet,"

"Oh yeah? Why's that? Scared I'd beat your little partner to a pulp?" she flashes a grin at me.

"Well... I think Kate could give you a run for your money," she raises her eyebrows at me, "But that's not why I was nervous. I was scared Kate would say something and chase you away," I click the down button on the elevator and looked back to Nat.

"Chase me away? Please, if you knew about my past, you would have left before I could've told you my name," her laugh fades as she notices the concerned look on my face. We step into the elevator but I never take my eyes off her. "Forget I said anything, I shouldn't have," she keeps her gaze focused on the door, and I stay silent the entire way down.

We step out of the elevator still in awkward silence.

"So, you never did tell me, you got a last name, or is it just Natasha?" I break the silence and laugh. I can feel Natasha get hesitant to respond, so I stop and look at her once again.

"...Rushman," she finally spits out.

"You must really have a history," I laugh, changing the subject and holding the door for her. "So, what movie did you pick?"

"Moonraker," she flashed a small smile that made my stomach do cartwheels.

"The old James Bond movie?" I put my arm around her as we walk down the sidewalk. It was still freezing, I hate New York.

"Hey!-It's not that old,"

"How old are you to not think 1979 was forever ago?" I glance at her and laugh again.

"I'm only 27, watch your mouth,"

"Shit, 27? I'm 21," my mouth hangs open for a moment, before hearing Nat laugh again.

"That explains why you can't hold your alcohol," she laughs so hard that her eyes are closed and her nose is scrunched up. She was adorable. It makes me flush bright red and have to turn my face away.

"Uh-is this the place?" I motion to the building that very obviously says Movie Theatre right in front of us, trying to get my face back to its normal color. I go in front of Nat and hold the door open.

"Such a gentleman," she flashes the same soft smile and only makes my face redder.

"This is gonna be a long night".
