The Walgreens sign greeted me as I walked through the automatic sliding doors. I had to get an alarm clock exactly like the one Clint got me, he'd shoot me if he knew I broke it.

"Can I help you with anything?" a woman wearing a red shirt greeted me with a bit too much enthusiasm.

"Uh... Alarm clocks?" I look up-well, down rather at her, she was a bit short.

"Aisle 7, if you need anything else, don't hesitate to ask!" she smiled and practically skipped away towards the register.

I put my head back down and walked towards the aisle she had pointed me to. I slowed my pace, thinking about what happened back at the apartment. How could Kate do that to me? For god's sake-we almost fucked last night, and I wake up this morning to find out she has a boyfriend? I was lost in my silent rage, that is until I ran right into a metal pillar in the middle of the aisle.

"Son of a bitch-"

"Hey-language! Are you okay?" a scratchy voice says from behind me. I turn and see a woman with red just below shoulder-length hair and emerald green eyes.

"Yeah... I'm fine, thanks-" I rub the now red spot on my forehead. I turn to walk away, trying to avoid eye contact.

"I'm Natasha-" she says, trying to get me to stop. I turn back and meet her eyes once again.

"(Y/N)..." I stick my hand out to shake hers, but she just stares at it. I give up and put my hand back in my pocket. Once again going to turn away, she interrupts.

"Do you wanna maybe... go get a drink or something?" Now we were talking. I turn back around and smile.

"Sure, Natasha, I'd love to," I motion for her to go first, and follow her out the sliding doors once again.

As we walked downtown, it occurred to both of us that we never actually agreed on a place for drinks.

"Do you wanna go to Happy Islands? I heard it's a decent bar," I look over at her, waiting for a nod of approval.

"Sure, where is it?" she stops and takes out her phone.

"Oh no it's fine I can-" I reach for my glasses in my back pocket and take them out, looking at them and remembering they were broken once again. I realized I looked like a crazy person when I saw the look Natasha was giving me. "I mean-I'll look it up," I put the glasses back in my back pocket, and take my phone out of my hoodie pocket. I hadn't realized Natasha had come up behind me and was peeking over my shoulder until she spoke.

"3 minutes? Not too far, should be okay" her sudden change in location making me jump. "Oh shit-sorry-" she walks around me to face me, a look of concern covering her pale face.

"Well... shall we get going?" I motion for her to go first, and find myself following close behind her once again.

Soon enough, I notice a bright blue sign with flashing lights that reads 'Happy Islands, Gourmet Bar'. It was still 200 feet or so in front of us, so I didn't say anything.

"Hey-is that it?" Natasha says, pointing to the flashing blue sign.

"Looks like it," I respond after we get to the door. I open it and allow her to go in first. In return, she flashes a cute smile that makes my face burn red. Her soft smile turns into a smirk as I follow in behind her. I look around and see beer signs, posters of half-naked girls in front of cars, and middle-aged men with beer guts and unshaven faces. I put my gaze back onto Natasha and follow her to a pair of seats at the bar.

Once we had ordered our drinks, we began the hard part; small talk.

"So... Natasha," I take a small sip of my green drink, making a face when I realized how sour it was. "Tell me about yourself, are you single?" She sets her beer down and takes a deep breath.

"Well, sort of. I just got dumped, and just call me Nat. What about yourself? Is there a Mr. or a Mrs. (Y/N)?"

"Not at the moment, but I'm sure there will be soon. I mean, come on, who could resist this?" I flash an over-confident grin, making the redhead laugh.

After a few drinks, I paid the bill and we left. I offered to walk Nat home, but she insisted I had drank more than she had and that I was more high-risk. We walked with our arms linked together now. Not because we were drunk, but because it was freezing and neither of us was wearing the proper attire.

"This one's mine," I point to the brick apartment building, trying to unlink my arm from Nat's.

"Not so fast, (Y/N). I'm making sure you get all the way to your apartment," her grip tightens around my arm as I drag her through the doors and into the elevator. I click the 3rd-floor button with my free hand and lean back into Nat.

"Tonight was fun," I turn and look at her, staring into her deep green eyes for the millionth time that night. She smiled at me as we stepped out of the elevator and headed for my apartment door. "I would invite you in but I have a roommate and she's-"

"It's okay, (Y/N), next time," she lets go of my arm and takes both my hands instead.

"Oh my god wait-I never got your number, I'd love to do this again," We exchange phones and put our numbers in. We switch our phones back and say our goodbyes. I turn and open the door, knowing she was still right behind me, I figured she was just texting my number to make sure she got the right one. I finally got the door open, I turned one last time to say goodbye.

"Nat, I meant it when I said I had a really good-" I couldn't finish my sentence before she pulled me in and met my lips with her's. She pulled away and it felt like her eyes were burning into mine as she looked down at me.

"Goodnight, (Y/N)," she walked away, and I, of course, watched her do so. I turned to walk back into the apartment, setting my stuff down on the kitchen island. I hadn't realized Kate was on the couch watching another dumb documentary.

"Shit" I mutter, trying to pretend I knew she was there the whole time. "Heyyy Kate.." her gaze didn't leave the screen.

"Goodnight," I finally heard her get out. She waited a second for my respond before she was up and off the couch, and slamming her bedroom door.
