People change.

Isn't that what everyone says?

Well, based on my past, I have to agree. The things I've been through made me change to the person I am today.

It all started when I met him. Jean Kirsten. Our mothers have been friends since birth so I also knew Jean since the day I was born.

But the thing is, we didn't get along. We hated each other. Why? You ask. For many reasons but I'll get to that point later.

We would see each other almost every weekend, thanks to our moms. Sometimes we'd go to his house and other times they'd come to ours.

We even went to the same primary school. We would bully and annoy each other every day even having the same friend group.

He was super popular (yes, in primary school) and I was the scary and mean girl. In reality, I was just like that to him and the people that'd try to hurt me. To my friends, I was more of a quiet person.

Then, middle school came. Luckily, I had to go to a different school because it was closer to my mom's work place so no more Jean.

Well, we didn't actually stop seeing each other immediately after I left the school. Our moms would still hangout but, at some point, me and Jean just stopped visiting each other with our moms.

My next problem, though, was that I wasn't accepted by the students at the new school.

I was bullied again. But it was way worse than the way Jean bullied me. I was pushed to the floor, people would cut parts of my hair when I wasn't watching and they'd destroy all of my school material.

The only thing that gave me comfort was drawing. I always kept my notebooks hidden so that no one would do anything to them. They were too precious to me.

Middle school changed me completely.

I spent two more years in high school, at a school where my bullies also attended. My mom started getting worried since the first day of middle school but I always told her that there was nothing to worry about.

She was always looking out for me and I love her for that but I hated to be a burden to her.

Then the first day of my third year in that high school came. I left too early from school because they found my sketch book and completely destroyed it.

After that, I left school and ran home. I was sick of it. All these years I bottled everything up and when this happened, I just couldn't take it anymore.

My mom was also home so she saw me and comforted me. We talked about it and agreed to finally change schools. Although, she let me take a week off of school while she looked for good schools for me to attend.

I spend the whole week drawing, reading and playing with my dog and my cat. My mom adopted them on my twelfth birthday while they were still babies and they've been my best friends ever since then.

On the fifth day of my break, my mom announced that she found an amazing school that was also near of our house and hugged me while crying.

We ate my favorite food for dinner to celebrate and she promised she'd take me shopping to buy new clothes and materials.

On that day, I didn't buy many clothes but I bought a lot of art materials and even some books. I had everything I needed to prepare myself for my new school.

The day finally arrived. I didn't sleep that night but I didn't really care. When my alarm rang, I got dressed and prepared myself. My mom made me a great breakfast so I tried to eat all of it, even if I didn't have appetite.

She took me there and wished me luck as I left the car. I walked to the secretary office and she took me to the principal's office.

He introduced himself as Mr. Erwin and gave me my schedule with a smile. Then, he called someone on the microphone, that someone being Eren Jaeger.

'Eren? Is he the same Eren from back then?'

A knock was heard and a boy with brown hair and green eyes appeared behind the door. When he saw me, he widened his eyes and looked back at Principal Erwin.

He told Eren to show me around the school before our classes started. I stood up and left with him.

"(Y/n), is it really you?" Eren gasped.

"Yup." I replied, grinning.

"Woah, you've changed so much! It's nice to see you again." He smiled.

"It's nice to see you too. I'm glad I know someone from this school." I said. The bell rang, meaning that we had to go to class.

"Shit. Hey, what if you have lunch with me and the others? Maybe I can show you the school then." He offered.

"Sure. I just need to know where exactly I have to go." Eren then told me where every class was and took me to my next class, maths.

Almost no one was there when I entered, only the teacher and three more students. The teacher called me and introduced herself. Then, she asked me if I wanted to be introduced to the class but I said no. She didn't mind and told me where I should sit down.

Through the whole class, not many people noticed my presence and focused on the teacher. Then, after class, I looked for my locker and found it with no one near it.

I tried to go there as unnoticed as possible, succeeding at the end. Just as I expected, my locker was empty so I tried to fill it with all of my stuff.

Meanwhile...

"Hey, look! It's the new girl!" Connie exclaimed, looking at the person arranging her locker in front of him.

"Oh, yeah." His friends said.

"Go talk to her." Connie said, winking at his pal.

"Yeah, you need more friends." Sasha stated.

"What? I already have enough friends!"

"Sure... Go talk to her now." Connie pushed him while he cursed under his breath.

---------

"Umm...hey. You're the new girl, right?" I heard someone speak from outside of my locker. Its door was on the way of me seeing his face so I had no idea who I was talking to.

"Yup, that's me." I said as I put my last notebook inside and closed the locker.

I looked at the guy and widened my eyes, him doing the same when he realized who I was.

"(Y/n)?!" He gasped.

"Jean?!"

We stared at each other, horrified, until the bell rang. I woke up to reality, grabbed my stuff and ran away from there.

My next class was English and again, I didn't have to introduce myself to the class. I spent the class thinking about who I just saw. Why was Jean there? Why didn't he make fun of me the moment he saw me? Why didn't he speak at all?!

My thoughts were interrupted when lunchtime arrived. I grabbed my stuff and left the class, walking towards the cafeteria.
