Last week of school had arrived and everyone that didn't have a pair for the dance was freaking out. Not me though, I've decided that I was going alone. Who knows, it might be more fun.
Or like Sasha said, it was a manifestation to show that I don't need anyone to make me happy or whatever.
On the first period, I was at my locker, looking for my English book. Once I found it, I closed the locker's door and noticed someone that was standing next to me.
"Mama bird, it's been a while!" I said to him.
"Hey, new girl." Floch spoke with a scary smirk on his face.
"Well, technically, I'm not new here anymore. School is almost over, you know." I replied.
"Whatever. I just came here to ask you to the dance so wanna go with me?" He asked.
"What a great way to ask someone out!" I sarcastically exclaimed. "No thanks. I'm going by myself." I started walking away from him.
"Wait, wait." He shouted, running to me. "Why not?"
"You see, it might be a big surprise to you but I don't really like you." I told him.
"You barely know me." He said as he put his arm around my waist. "I could be a really cool guy, you know?"
"Take your hand off me now." I muttered. He didn't move so I stabbed his hand with my nails.
"Ouch, chill!" He quickly let me go but still didn't leave me alone. "C'mon, give me one chance. I could change the way you see me."
"God, you're so annoying." I murmured. I tried to walk away from him but he just wouldn't let me. "Just leave me alone, I don't want to go with anyone to the dance."
"Please, girl. One chance." He bit his lip and looked up and down at me, which weirded me out.
"Ew." I gave him a disgusted look.
"She said no." I felt an arm around my shoulder. I looked to my side and saw that Jean was pulling me close to him.
"Kirstein, this is none of your business. Leave us alone." Floch grunted.
"Dude, she rejected you. Move on." Jean said.
Floch knew that it was useless to argue now that Jean was with me so he just left, cursing under his breath. I sighed in relief.
"He didn't do anything to you, right?" Jean asked.
"No. Thank you for saving me, I owe you." I said.
"It's fine, I was just helping a friend." He smiled. "By the way, are you going with anyone to the dance?"
"Nah. I want to go by myself." I told him.
"Oh. I see. That's great." Jean mumbled, sounding a bit disappointed.
"You should go alone too. I mean, it's really not a big deal." I said. "Plus, we have the prom next year, we'll be fine this year."
"I guess." He mumbled.
I could tell that Jean was a bit upset with my answer. I didn't know if he actually wanted to go with me or if he just didn't have anyone else to ask but I still felt flattered that he came to me.
"Hey, c'mon, cheer up." I smiled at him. "Like I said, you have prom next year. Who knows, maybe you'll fall in love with someone and go with them."
"Yeah, maybe you're right." He chuckled.
"Don't forget to look hot." I winked at him.
"I would say the same to you but you already are." He smirked, bitting his lower lip.
I widened my eyes and my jaw dropped.
"Jean Kirstein." I murmured. "I thought you had something better than that. Are you sure you can flirt or you just look up pick up lines on Google?"
"Bro..." He sighed, putting his hand on his forehead. "You just ruined the mood."
"Ups." I chuckled.
After school, the girls had decided to go shopping for some things for the dance. They basically dragged me there because they wanted to hangout with all the girls or something like that.
As some where trying some clothes out, I was just sitting down and commented on the clothes that they'd choose, if they asked for my opinion on them.
"(Y/n), what are you taking to the dance?" Mikasa asked.
"Oh, uh... I guess I'm taking my only dress." They all gave me a disapproval look. "What?"
"You need a new outfit." Historia said.
"Let's check some stores and you pick the ones you like most." Ymir grabbed my arm and took me out of there while the other girls followed us.
After picking some outfits, I tried them and the girls gave their opinion. I ended up buying two.
(It doesn't have to necessarily be a dress, it can also be a suit or whatever you prefer as long as you look amazing)
Well, I didn't pay, the girls did it for me even though I begged them not to do it because I felt bad for making them pay.
Once we were all done buying our stuff, we went home. When I arrived to my house, my mom was already there, making dinner.
She noticed my bags and asked about them. I told her that it was the outfits for the dance and she asked to see me wearing them.
I wore the clothes and showed my mom, her clapping and acting really excited. It had been a while since we had a moment like this even though it was a short one.
I went to bed a bit after but couldn't fall asleep. I decided to look up some makeup tutorials and, with a lot of struggle, tried to do them.
Some time later, I looked at the phone clock and saw how late it was. I cleaned the makeup and went to bed, preparing myself mentally for the day of the dance.
