A/N: Hi again! We've finally got Bruno in the picture, in case you, the reader, haven't figured it out yet. Y/n hasn't though, so stay tuned!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I know you're in here," Y/n said loudly, trying to make herself seem intimidating. "Come out now, and I won't have to hurt you."
She heard tapping, eight total, seven of which seemed to be on the floor, and one- on his head? Or some other bone. This was accompanied by whispering that Y/n couldn't decipher.
"Listen, if you're trying to reach Dolores for help, she can't shield you anymore." Y/n was getting exasperated.
More muttering from behind the chair. The breathing was no longer heavy in the tired way, but instead panicked, like he had been cornered.
"I swear- I'm gonna move the chair, don't try to run."
A rustle of fabric is all she got in reply.
Y/n moved closer, grabbing the red chair and scooting it out of the way, revealing a small, thin man curled up under a green ruana. (A/N I think that's the word for it? If not, tell me and I'll change it)
He was shaking slightly, and his breathing was still panicked, but he didn't try to talk to her or anything. His face was covered by his hood, and she couldn't make out any features she might recognize him by.
Then, she heard him whispering in a low pitched voice that sounded fake. "I am Hernando and I'm scared of nothing. I am Hernando and I'm scared of nothing.." He said it like a mantra.
"Listen, Hernando, I need you to stand up and please get out of the Madrigals' house. You'll be lucky if I don't report you to Abuela." The name Hernando sounded familiar, but she couldn't place it, so she assumed it wasn't important.
Suddenly, the man stood up. He was about Y/n's height and his hood still covered his face. He spoke out loud this time, but it was the same thing. "I am Hernando and I am scared of nothing!" The voice sounded even more fake when it was louder.
"Man, I don't know what you're playing at, but you looked pretty scared just now," said Y/n, unimpressed.
As the man looked at Y/n's face, he seemed to truly see who she was. That was strange, since he must have seen her running after him. Maybe he didn't get a good look at who it was?
Y/n still couldn't see much of his face besides an unshaven, dirty looking bottom half of it. That didn't help her identify him at all.
"Take off the hood, or I take it off for you," said Y/n. She wanted to get a good look at his face, so she could describe him if he somehow escaped, or recognize him.
"I- Uh-" The man stammered. For someone who was scared of nothing, he seemed pretty scared.
Sighing, Y/n reached out with one hand to pull back his hood, but he caught her arm before she reached it. Even he seemed slightly shocked at what he had done, but he didn't let go.
".. I need you to promise something," he said, still in that fake deep voice.
"Yeah, yeah, I promise I won't hurt you. I'll only kick you out of the house," Y/n said, trying to pull her arm free. To her surprise, his grip was strong, especially for someone so tiny and thin.
"N-not that... promise you won't hate me."
That surprised Y/n. Why did this guy care what she thought of him. Soon, they would be out of each other's lives for good. It didn't matter whether she hated him, which Y/n was already leaning towards since he had been spying on her.
