Just as Bruno had known would happen, Camilo woke them up with the usual "BRUNO AND Y/N ARE SLEEPING TOGETHER!"
When he opened his eyes, though, he was surprised to see that the two of them had their arms wrapped around each other, and Y/n was laying much closer to him than normal.
Then he heard the snap of a camera, and sat up.
"Haha! I have proof now!!" Camilo practically danced out of the room, waving the picture around in his hand.
Bruno sat up to make Camilo give the photo to him, but was stopped by an arm around his waist.
Without realizing what she was doing, Y/n had grabbed him before he could leave. In a mostly-asleep daze, she muttered, "Don't go.."
Bruno turned back to her, gently removing her hands with a small smile. "Querida, it's time for breakfast. You have to get up."
"Noooo," she said sleepily.
"Come on," he insisted, pulling back the covers. "Get up." He often had to wake her up like this. Somehow, even he dealt with mornings better than she did.
Groaning, she sat up, blinking as her eyes adjusted to the light coming from her window.
Once Bruno had finally gotten Y/n all the way out of bed, they walked down to breakfast without even bothering to change or do much more than put on slippers, which was mostly Casita.
They got their food and sat at the table, Bruno at Y/n's right as always. Today, though, it was Diego who sat at her left.
He looked at Bruno, smiling slightly. "I take it from Camilo's shouting you never came back to the tower last night?"
"No, I guess we fell asleep," Bruno mumbled in reply.
"More than that," said Camilo in a teasing voice as he sat down. "You were cuddling."
Y/n sighed. "You're really never letting this whole thing go, are you?"
"Not until you get together."
"So never."
Bruno was a bit spaced out as Y/n and Camilo went back and forth. His mind kept straying to how her arms wrapped around him, and her sleepy voice as she fought to keep him there.
"-no? Brunooo."
He was brought out of his thoughts by his name being repeated. "Um, what?" he asked.
"What's on your mind that's got you so distracted?" asked Pepa.
"What else? Y/n of course," teased Camilo.
Despite the fact that his nephew was right, Bruno was not about to admit that. "Just- nothing. Thinking about- prophecies." Which wasn't really a lie. It felt like every time there was a gap in his thoughts, he thought of the vision he had tried so many times to find a way around, wanting Y/n to end up with someone better for her, someone who deserved her more.
"What has been new in the future? Your cave was lit up last night, you've been busy," said Y/n.
"Oh, uh, not much. I was looking back on one future more than once, hoping to find more details." Bruno was trying very hard not to lie, in case Diego called him out.
"Which future was that?" asked Diego, the man himself.
"Uhm.. well.. it's not really that important," mumbled Bruno.
"And you, friend, have just told a lie," said Diego.
Darn it. "Uh.." Bruno's mind scrambled frantically for something to say.
Luckily for him, Pepa stepped in on his defense. "Hey, if Bruno doesn't want to say, he doesn't have to. He'll tell us what we need to know."
"I just think that it's a bit weird that Bruno isn't telling us something important." Diego's words washed over the table, and all eyes who hadn't already been on him turned to Bruno. Murmurs of agreement spread around. Even Pepa abandoned what she had been saying.
The only one who stuck to Bruno's side was Y/n, who decided to take this moment to make her suspicions known. "I just think it's a bit weird that you're lying about your gift."
This took the family by surprise. Abuela began to chastise her. "Don't be rude, Y/-"
"No, no, it's completely understandable that Y/n would be suspicious, even though it's not necessary," said Diego pleasantly. "I promise, I'm only-"
Something clicked. Bruno's eyes widened, realizing the truth with only a moment to react. "There's nothing to worry about, Y/n," he interrupted loudly, drowning out whatever Diego had nearly said.
Y/n turned to him, surprised both at his volume and the interruption. Something in Bruno's eyes caught her attention, though, a spark of panic that made her shut her mouth.
Diego seemed slightly taken aback too, his face showing a flash of anger, but he smoothed it over before anyone saw.
The table was silent for a moment, before Julieta calmly stepped in and changed the subject to more pleasant things.
Bruno kept getting odd glances all throughout the rest of breakfast, and he stared at his plate to avoid them.
Once everyone was finished eating and had cleared their places, Bruno took Y/n aside, back into her room. "I figured out what Diego's gift really is," he said.
"What? How?" asked Y/n.
"You saw how everyone takes what he says at face value, and had no suspicion towards him, right? I think his gift is to make people believe whatever he says." Bruno looked extremely nervous, as he should be. Such a gift would be very, very hard to find a way around.
A slow clap came from the doorway, making both Bruno and Y/n flinch. As they whirled around, Diego stood in the entrance to the room with a small smile on his face.
"I'm impressed. I didn't think anyone would be smart enough to figure me out," he said as he stepped into the room. "The thing is, I can't have you blabbing to everyone else, since it doesn't work on people who are aware of it."
Bruno stepped in front of Y/n protectively. "So what are you gonna do?"
Diego's smile didn't waver as he simply lifted a heavy board he had leaned on the doorframe. "I'm sorry to have to do this," he said. Then, with a single swing, he knocked both of them out cold.
