A/N: OOOOO a rare update! This was requested in the last chapter by Bloolsprebby, and I just had to write it. Anyways, hope you all enjoy! This is how the children got adopted!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/n waited for Bruno in their tower, fidgeting nervously with her wedding ring as he opened the door.
"Hola, mi amor," he said, sitting down next to her. He noticed her fidgeting and her nervous expression. "What's wrong?" he asked.
"I- well- nothing's wrong, but I was wondering.. you know, we've talked about it before but... what I mean to say is, I want kids!" she blurted out, her cheeks turning pink.
Bruno felt his own face turn red. "I- uh- I mean-"
"I'm not fertile, I passed that age a few years ago," Y/n rushed on. "But I was thinking, maybe we could adopt?"
That was a much less flustering notion to Bruno, and his face went from red to pink as she said this. "I would love that- uh, I mean, yes, I think that would be great," he replied, taking her hand.
"Maybe.. we could go now?" she asked.
"Go?"
"To the orphanage," she said.
There was an orphanage in the Encanto, though there weren't many kids in it. The Madrigals were well equipped to save people and keep children from being orphaned, but in rare cases they couldn't get to a place in time.
"Oh- right, of course," said Bruno. "Let's go."
Y/n hopped up from the bed happily, still holding Bruno's hand, and pulled him towards the door. He was happy to see her this excited, and they had agreed early on that they did want to raise kids together. Her excitement was contagious, and Bruno soon found himself smiling back at her as they headed towards the orphanage to try to adopt.
Once they reached the place, they could see three children playing in the back, and a woman was seated at the front desk, who smiled as they entered. "Hello, how may I help you today?"
"We'd like to adopt," said Y/n, with a small, happy glance at Bruno.
The woman's smile widened. It wasn't often that orphans arrived at the orphanage, but it wasn't common that they were adopted either. "Wonderful! Which of the children would you like to meet? Here's the roster," she said, sliding a paper across the desk towards them.
Only three names were on the list: Marco, Clara, and Santiago.
Y/n and Bruno exchanged glances, coming to an agreement without spoken words. Bruno looked back at the lady. "All of them."
About half an hour later, Y/n and Bruno were sitting in a room, across a table from three uncomfortable looking children.
"Hello," said Y/n, breaking the silence. "My name is Y/n, and this is Bruno. We're.. well, we're hoping to adopt you."
None of the children replied, but the girl, Clara, was studying Bruno with intense eyes. Suddenly, she seemed to realize something. "You're a Madrigal!" she blurted out. A very nice observation for a three year old.
This caught the kids' interest. None of the kids really had much opportunity to see the Madrigals in action besides Camilo, since they spent most of their time in the orphanage or with the designated child entertainer.
"Uh, well, yes, I am," said Bruno.
"What's your gift?" asked Marco, the oldest of the three, at four years old. He had the youngest, two year old Santiago, on his lap. The latter seemed to have little idea what was going on, playing with one of the brightly colored pencils that had been left on the table.
"Future sight," replied Bruno. "It's not the most exciting-"
"That's so cool!" cried Clara and Marco at the same time, cutting off Bruno's comment.
And just like that, these kids had won Bruno's heart.
A few hours later, three children and two adults headed up to the Casita, pausing in front of the door. Suddenly, Bruno turned to Y/n with a slightly panicked look.
"We didn't tell Mama- or anyone- about this, did we?" he said nervously.
Y/n had just come to the same realization. "Well.. Dolores would know," she offered. "And maybe she told some people?"
They pushed open the front door, hoping for once that Dolores had told the family what they were doing.
Inside, they found the entire family waiting for them, except Alma.
"CONGRATULATIONS!" they roared together, Dolores holding her hands over her headphones, before taking them off and putting them around heneck once the shouting had stopped.
"Oh thank goodness," muttered Bruno with relief.
Julieta was standing next to a large frosted cake, with white icing and carefully made decorations. The courtyard was covered in flowers in all shades of color. Music was playing in the background. The Madrigals had put together a whole party in the time they had been out.
Marco and Clara stared around at their surroundings, and at their new family. Julieta offered them both slices of cake, and they accepted with wide smiles. Soon, they were dancing with the Madrigals as the music played and cake was eaten. Everyone took turns holding little Santiago and feeding him tiny bits of frosting. It was pretty much guaranteed he would grow up with a sweet tooth.
Bruno and Y/n did notice Alma's absence from the celebration, but they weren't surprised nor did they let it affect their joy. They had known she wouldn't approve of adoption, but they loved their children, and nothing was going to get in the way of that.
So that night, the Madrigals partied their hardest to welcome three new children into the family.
