I wiped my hands on apron after I finished washing excess dishes. The smell of all the food I made for breakfast wafted in the air and I inhaled it heavenly. I am certainly one hell of a cook! The twins both have school today, so I had to force myself out of bed earlier so they have something nice and hot to eat instead of eating the usual cold cereal or probably toast and fruit.
And speaking of the twins: “Good morning, Mom.”
“Morning, you two,” I greeted both of them. Luna and Haru were already dressed and done for the day, which is a little surprising. And in the usual twin fashion, their outfits both resembled each other’s. Both came up to me and hugged me before retrieving a bowl and scooped rice into it.
“What’s the special occasion this morning, Mom?” Haru asked lightheartedly.
“You don’t want our special guest to wake up to cold cereal, right?” I replied. Haru and Luna both nodded in understanding as they took their bowls to their seats where a bowl of vegetables with meat and a small plate of kimchi awaited them. Within seconds I heard them digging into their food and my stomach soon growled upon hearing that noise.
In the corner of my eye, I saw the guest bedroom open and Baekhyun walk out with disheveled hair. The sight of him looking tired with messy hair made my heart flutter a bit, but I knocked some sense into me. I turned to him and he blinked some, and made brief eye contact with me before being distracted by the twins. Baekhyun smiled at them and walked up to them, talked to them some, before he turned and walked up to me.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” I greeted him with a smile.
“Morning, beautiful,” he grumbled with a grin. “Do you know how hard it is to sleep through all this? My stomach was having a fit endlessly.”
I shrugged, “Your fault you eat like a pig.”
“So it’s also my fault you cook so amazingly?” Baekhyun reached around me and pulled out two bowls, in which he put one in my hand. “Let’s go eat, because I’m going to assume you have work today because that’s what mothers do with kids of their own.”
“And your assumption is indeed correct,” I replied as I turned to scoop some rice into my bowl. Baekhyun went after me and we both made our way to the table, where the twins were nearly already finished. I sighed as Haru had that specific expression that showed he wanted seconds.
“So, how’s school, kids?” Baekhyun asked them. “Anything I should be worried about?”
“Not at all,” they both replied in unison.
“Liars,” I coughed and Luna shot me a cold look. I smiled at her before I stuffed some vegetables and meat into my mouth. Baekhyun frowned at them and stared them down with a hard expression.
“We…just need to study more,” Luna admitted quietly. “I promise to make up my test after school today.”
“And I’ll try today during lunch, since I have practice after school today,” Haru turned to Luna. “So don’t forget to pick me up.”
“No promises Quarterback,” she mused.
“Football? Impressive,” Baekhyun nodded an impressed look on his face. He looked up at me and grinned proudly. “How’s that going for you?”
