I pulled up in front of Daehyun’s apartment, turning my car off and leaving my car. I forgot to ever ask for his number and I should be old-fashioned in this way. I hurried to his apartment, wrapping my coat tighter around me to fight off the bitter autumn cold.
Reaching his door, I rang the doorbell. There was a rush of footsteps and I saw Daehyun, toothbrush in his mouth and well dressed. His eyes went wide and he stepped aside, letting me inside. I grinned, taking off my boots at the entrance.
“I’m sorry, I slept in a little,” I heard him say behind me, “And I apologize for the mess.”
I laughed, taking in his cozy apartment. There were some things scattered here and there but it isn’t so bad. I saw Daehyun hurry into his bathroom and rinse his mouth from toothpaste, quickly hurrying to the other side of the room to grab his bag. Lined perfectly against one wall were clothing racks, each of them doubled to hold all of his clothes. His hats were hung against the wall and I saw a bookshelf filled with a variety of books.
“No bed?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Daehyun looked at me and shook his head, “Nah, only this futon. It’s really comfortable.”
“I bet it is,” I agreed, eyeing the soft mattress. Everything was tidied up and/or folded. I looked towards the other side of the apartment and stifled a laugh.
“Do you not use your kitchen whatsoever?”
Daehyun barked out a laugh, “I don’t cook whatsoever.”
I chuckled, seeing that Daehyun is ready. He nodded and wrapped his scarf tighter around his neck and followed me out of his apartment, both of us putting our shoes on at the same time. I bolted to my car, hating this cold weather and wishing that it doesn’t get worse like it does every winter. I sighed; relaxing in the interior of my car and watching Daehyun get in the seat next to me.
“You can put your stuff in the back,” I told him once I started my car and began driving off, “We’re not eating in my car.”
“Where are we going anyways?”
“One of my good friend’s café from high school,” I told him as I yielded until turning. “It’s my favorite place to go to for coffee, smoothies, tea, and everything else. It’s also a huge relief to see him because all my other friends are off in their own path to their future.”
“Does this friend have a barista license?”
“I am fairly sure he got it during high school,” I answered.
We arrived at Minnie’s café in five minutes, Daehyun admiring its grand exterior. I quickly reached into my bag to grab my wallet and double checked to see if my card was in it—which it was. Daehyun followed closely behind me as we neared the entrance of the café. I swung the door open, hearing the usual cheerful call when I come to this café.
“Hello—oh!” I laughed at Minseok’s greeting. I went straight to the front counter, Daehyun right behind me.
“Hi, Minnie,” I greeted him with a wide smile.
“Good morning, Da-goon,” he greeted me with his usual happiness.
I stepped to the side, “Meet my friend and classmate from university, Daehyun.”
