Mikayla was done with the day and so thankful she had the remainder of the month off. She truly thought she was getting sick when she walked into the café that morning. Her chest was on fire like she was having the worst acid reflux debacle, but when her eyes landed on Pride it was like nothing else mattered. She couldn't explain it and quite frankly felt crazy, but she knew she had to meet him. In that moment, Mikayla felt like she had to know what he sounded and smelt like.
Hearing his voice for the first time was like a gulp of cold water on a hot, scorching day. It was perfect in every way and she wanted more. She was so disappointed that work had interrupted them, but when he texted her, she was happy that he had found her number.
Mikayla didn't know what possessed her to give it out. She NEVER gave out her number, especially to strangers. She was nice and cordial to all she encountered, but Mikayla was not a people person. Her mother used to call her an extroverted introvert and she had to agree.
It wasn't something she'd ever done before, but the idea of never seeing or talking to Pride again seem to sadden her to no end. She had no clue what was going on with her, but entered her one-bedroom apartment and sighed in relief that she was moments away from washing the day off of her. She was beyond ready to relax for the remainder of the month.
She had been working for Mrs. Monroe for over two years now. The previous assistant had a mental breakdown due to her constant tongue lashing and abuse. The assistant before him, Aja Evans, seemed to be able to handle the tyrant, but took a job to help the reclusive CEO of B & B, Incorporated. Mikayla made sure to familiarize herself with the extensive notes left by Aja on how to succeed in her job and managed to not only excel in her work but come to an understanding with Mrs. Monroe.
A major perk of working for the sometimes tyrannical woman was the amount of paid time off. As the assistant to the CEO, Mikayla was given extensive amount of time off. She was, however, also required to take time whenever her boss was away.
Mrs. Monroe would be off for the next four weeks and Mikayla reveled in it. As she stripped down and threw her clothes in the hamper, she wondered what she would do with all her free time. She heard her phone chime in her bedroom and went to see who it was.
Unknown: What are you doing tonight?
Mikayla found herself smiling widely already knowing who it was and saving his number. She didn't know where this would lead, but she didn't mind spending her off days booed up with the handsome devil.
Mikayla: Nothing planned. Why?
Petey: We're grilling out and hanging by the pool. Care to join?
Mikayla thought on it. "We." She immediately thought back to his seven brothers. "It could be fun. I'm sure their girlfriends or wives will be there." She said to herself before typing her response.
Mikayla: Sure, I'll join. Drop the addy.
She got showered with renowned purpose all the while smiling ear to ear.
"She's coming!" Sloth said as excitedly as he could muster. "Who is coming?" Pride asked then took in his phone in his brother's hand. "What did you do?!" Sloth threw Pride's phone at him and got up faster than he's ever done.
"What's the problem?" Gluttony asked with a bowl of mixed nuts in his large hand. "Pride is trying to kill me!" Sloth accused with a pout. "No, he isn't. If he were you'd be back in hell by now." Wrath said taking a seat down on the couch beside Gluttony.
"What did you do, Sloth?" Envy asked as Greed walked into the room. "I didn't do anything. Pride found our mate and I just texted her to come over, so she's on her way." Pride felt all eyes on him and sighed heavily. "You found our what now?" Lust said stumbling into the conversation. Pride dragged his hand over his face and retold the story of meeting Mikayla.
