Mikayla was walking around like a chicken with her head cutoff. The turkey was cooked to perfection. Her grandmother's mashed potatoes, dressing and yams recipes continued to bless her. The mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole with marshmallows were ready. While the homemade apple pie and pumpkin pie were just begging to be devoured. The thorn in her side was her mother's greens. The collard greens had to be seasoned just right to capture the essence as her mother would say.
"Love, you need to get dressed. Everyone will be here right at 6pm since, you know, they're teleporting." Envy said to her. "What time is it," Mikayla asked as she stirred the pot. "5:55 pm." The groan of frustration left her lips before she could reign it in and it had all of her husbands coming to her aid. "What's wrong, Princess?" Mikayla shook her head as Archie came trotting in to help.
"I just want everything to be perfect, but these fucking collard greens aren't being nice." Greed laughed loudly. "I don't even know why you're worried. These white people don't know shit about no fucking collard greens. The fact that the food is seasoned already is going to fuck up their bland asses."
Pride was ready to say something, but stopped at the sound of his wife's laughter. "Come here," Mikayla called Greed. "Taste it and tell me what I'm missing." He took a bite and nodded. "You need more garlic."
Mikayla looked at him as though he had saved her life. "Really? I thought I put a lot." Greed shook his head and added some garlic to the pot before stirring it and giving her a bite. "That tastes perfect! How did you know? Was it some type of demon thing?" Greed shook his head no.
"You just have to tap into your inner negro and only stop pouring seasonings when the ancestors say so." Mikayla laughed loudly before they heard Harlow call out from the living room. "Shit! They're here!" Mikayla squealed. "Angel, you're clothes." Mikayla looked down at the sweatpants, tank top and house slippers she had on under her apron and sighed. Archie cocked his head to the side as if he understood the dilemma.
"I've got you babe," Wrath said with a smirk before waving his hand. Mikayla looked down and was pleasantly surprised. The outfit was simple, but chic and her once natural curls were straightened out and styled in loose curls.
Mikayla's Thanksgiving Outfit
"You guys go and be good hosts. I'm going to plate this and bring it out with the rest of the food." She shooed them off before plating the collard greens. Mikayla walked over to the dining table and placed the dish down before walking around make making sure everything was presentable and how she wanted it.
"It really is a nice spread." Mikayla covered her mouth to stop from screaming. There at the head of her table was Humility. She was flanked by two other woman she had never seen before. Archie, who was now the size of a Labrador, began to growl.
"What are you doing here Humility?" The virtue shrugged and played with her nails as if she weren't intruding on her holiday. "You need to reject them for your safety and that of humanity. I can help you do that and I'm ready and willing as you should be."
