I used to hate Christmas. I used to hate how other people told about their holidays and gifts and good family time. My family doesn't celebrate Christmas in any way, no gifts, no Christmas trees nor ornaments, absolutely nothing. "It is just useless way of spending money" my mom once said when I asked her about it. Only person who celebrated it with me was my grandma, but after her passing I started to hate it even more. But once you showed me the light I started to appreciate this celebration and holiday again.
It was snowing slightly. The small snowflakes were falling down peacefully, covering everything with a beautiful white veil. Christmas was around the corner and people were running around, buying the last presents for their celebrations. I was strolling around the city, trying to decide what I should by for you. I had a hunch of what you wanted but just I haven't found it. Couples were taking pictures together in the snow, little kids were throwing snowballs at each other and everyone was filled with joy, the pure joy about holidays and the snow. It was a calming sight to look at. Only thing I was missing was you beside me. You had visited your family in your hometown and I had to be at our family's annual dinner party at Busan, my hometown. My family didn't celebrate Christmas, we always had just family gathering where we didn't give gifts, so it was nothing special to me. But oh how dearly you thought about it. You always looked so dreamy when talking about it. It made your voice more softer and it you made me feel new kind on familiarness to it, even tough I have never witnessed or been part of it. You described the warmness of it, how it was not about receiving the gifts but about giving them and seeing how happy it made the receiver. You were indeed the light of the darkness, the fuzzy feeling about something fun, the warmness in the dept of the winter. I was drowning in the thought of you telling me about your Christmas when something caught my eye from the store. "This is the one" I mumbled to myself confidently.
You were waiting me in train-station. I was running late because I was caught up wrapping your gift. Rapidly I scanned trough the crowd trying to find the familiar figure in the crowd of busy people. Then I spotted you. You looked happier than ever. Hat tugged deep in your head, snow all over your jacket and a cutest smile I had ever seen plastered all over your face. You waived at me at the other side of the platform. I just started to run to you not caring that I bumped to a few other people on my way . When I finally reached you, you dropped your suitcase and launched yourself to me. In mist of your jump your hat fell of exposing your freshly dyed hair. To my surprise it was in a shade of warm orange, reminding me a bit of carrots that my grandma used to grow in her garden. We hugged tightly as I inhaled the faint scent of you. "I missed you my love" I whispered in your ear. You broke of our hug giggling cutely "I missed you too, my very own sweetheart" I could not help myself but to flash one of my boxy smiles to you. Softly you caressed my face with your warm hand. Then pulling me in to a kiss and taking your other hand to my cheek aswell. I wrapped my arms around your waist and pulled you closer. Kiss was more like a small peck to but it sent thousand of electric sparks and thousands of feeling inside me. All the sounds of busy people shuffling next to us, trains breaks screeching and the whistling of the conductors was faded out as we stared at each other eyes as the snow was still falling from the night sky, slowly covering everything in a white veil. "Merry Christmas my love" I smiled.
"I love you" we whispered to each other while leaning our foreheads together chilling in the sofa. The warm feeling inside me just grew wider and wider. "Did u know that you are really special to me?" I asked. You looked into my eyes with warm and loving gaze "So are you to me" You said while taking my hand to yours. "So I got you something that is just as special as you" You looked at me very curiously. "Close your eyes" while taking a small gift wrapped in a red paper and a small golden ribbon on top of the box shaped gift. I placed it in your hand "You can look now" You opened your eyes and saw my small gift. You carefully started opening the package trying not to tear the ribbon or the paper. Finally underneath the paper you found a jewelry box. The box was coated with dark-green velvet. Filled with curiosity you opened the box to find my gift. It was a heart-shaped locket with our initials engraved on back of it. "Thank you! It's so beautiful" you gasped while admiring it "Mind putting it on?" you asked turning around. Slowly I took the necklace of your hand. You lifted your long hair away exposing your smooth neck. My fingers traced your neckline slowly before locking the necklace to it's place. You turned around smiling while a small diamond-like tear escaped your eye. I took your head in my hands and gently wiped off the tears "Do you like it?" I asked admiring your shining eyes. You nodded your head cutely and buried your head into my chest. "I love it" you sniffled "Thank you, I will cherish this till to end."
