"What did Fury want?" Your girlfriend Natasha asked as you walked into the lounge where she and the rest of the team were sitting.

"He needs me for a mission." You told them, but they could tell it wasn't good, your demeanour was totally different.

"What kind of mission?" Natasha asked, pulling you to sit beside her.

"It's a deep insight mission, in Barbados. It's for a year." You mumbled, falling into Natasha's side. You didn't want to leave her, but you knew peoples lives were at stake.

"A year?" Wanda asked and you nodded, no one really knew what to say, they didn't want their friend to leave.

"When do you go?" Natasha asked as she pulled you close.

"Now. I have to go back my things, they need me in the field immediately." You explained with a sigh.

"Wow..." Natasha trailed off, you couldn't help the tears that fell from your eyes.

"I'll come help you." Natasha lifted you up and you both walked to your shared bedroom. She mostly wanted time alone before you left.

"I don't want to go." You honestly told her and she smiled at you.

"I don't want you to either, but what's a year right? Before we know it it'll be over." Natasha tried to assure you and you just smiled at her.

"How am I gonna go without seeing you for so long?" You took her hands in yours. Then she kissed you, passionately like it was the last thing she would ever do.

"Miss Y/l/n, the quinjet is ready for you now, Director Fury is waiting." Jarvis informed you, causing you both to break the kiss.

"Guess that's it." You sadly smiled.

"I'll walk you."

You and Natasha walked through the halls of the tower and made your way to the quinjet where you said your goodbyes.

1 Year Later

"Any day now" Wanda assured Nat as they made dinner together for the team.

"It's been too long." Natasha let out a breath as she looked at the witch.

"I know, but that will make the small reunion a little better don't you think? More meaningful?" Wanda teased as she nudged Nat who rolled her eyes.

"Miss Romanoff, director fury would like to see you in his office." Jarvis' voice echoed around the room.

"She could be ok her way." Wanda shrugged when they shared a confused look.

"I hope so." Natasha replied before she left the meet the director.

"You can go straight in." Maria told her as she got to his office, opening the doors and sitting down opposite his desk.

"I'm going to get straight to the point." Was the first thing Fury said when he looked up from some files that laid before him.

"I know you and Y/l/n shared a deep relationship, so it's only right for you to be the first to know about this." He continued, Natasha focussed on what he was saying in anticipation.

"I got a call from one of my agents this morning. He's declared Y/n  MIA. We can't find any trace of her, it's like she just vanished. Now don't assume the worst, i've sent more people out to find more information but that's all we know for now." Fury informed Natasha, who had sat up in her chair, her hands gripping the arms of the seat hard and her eyes watering.

"How does she just vanish?" Natasha questioned through gritted teeth.

"We don't know. She was contacting us at the right times about how the mission was going. Then suddenly we heard nothing for ages. I sent some agents to go check it out and that's when they declared her MIA. This is all I know." Fury expanded, knowing how hurt Natasha felt.

"Is there anything I can do? We have to find her." Natasha told him but he just shook his head.

"I have my team on it. We'll update you whenever we get something, but there's nothing you can do than to wait." Fury replied calmly, yet deep down he too was worried.

"Bullshit. I'm helping to find her. She could be in danger." Natasha stormed out the room and instantly began doing all she could to find her girlfriend.

Searched social media, the Barbados government, anything she could get her hands on. She worked for hours. Hours turned into days. And days turned into two weeks. That's when she got a hit.

She was finally gonna get you back.
