2am. You couldn't sleep. You lay there staring at your bedroom ceiling in the pitch black, your legs entangled with Scarlett's as she held you close. Your head rested on her chest, so you were unable to see her face, but her breathing was calm, the motion of her chest rising and falling is what you had focussed on for the past few hours.

Little did you know she was awake. Also staring at the ceiling as she too focussed on your breathing, also assuming you were asleep. So when she moved her arm to stroke your hair it took you by surprise.

"You're awake?" You half whispered as you felt her hand gently stroke your hair.

"Yeah, i have been for ages. I thought you were asleep." She whispered back but you shook you head.

"No I can't. Didn't want to get up and wake you." You chuckled slightly at the fact you both stayed in bed thinking it was for the benefit of the other. For a minute you were both silent. Scarlett held you slightly tighter knowing it wouldn't wake you.

"I might get some food, you want some?" You offered, not daring to leave her arms until the last second.

"Mhm, i'll come with you." She hummed, hoping small activity would make her sleepy when she arrived back to bed.

You sat up slowly, stretching as you did so and offered a hand to Scarlett who gratefully took it and sat up to. You both made your way downstairs, leaving all lights off and using phone torches as your only source of light, you had adapted to the dark and it would wake you more with the light on.

When you got to the kitchen, you sat on the counter, placing your phone beside you as Scarlett opened the fridge. The fridge lighting now illuminating the room.

"Strawberry?" Scarlett offered as she chucked a chocolate covered strawberry in her mouth. You had both made them together the other day, and you were surprised you still had some left.

"Of course." You smiled and opened your mouth, hinting that she had to come to you.

Scarlett sighed and playfully rolled her eyes, walking to stand between your legs and placing the strawberry in your mouth. She couldn't help but stare at you as you smiled like a child eating sweets.

You were glad it was low lighting as your cheeks turned red under Scarlett's gaze. You had been dating for years but she never failed to make you feel giddy.

"You're pretty." She hummed, placing her hands on your thighs.

"I know." You whispered, smirking before placing a kiss on her lips.

"I'm still not tired." She admitted, your foreheads resting against each other.

"Neither am I." You agreed and you both chuckled a little. The clock on the wall now read 2:25.

"I have an idea." You added, before pecking her lips once more and grabbing your phone.

You opened spotify and connected to the kitchen Alexa. You made sure the volume wasn't too loud and played one of your playlists.

At first, Scarlett was confused. Then you jumped of the counter and took her hands, guiding her to the middle of the kitchen.

"What are you doing?" She giggled as you stood opposite each other.

"Dancing." You smiled, placing her hands on your hips.

"It's 2am." She smirked but you shrugged your shoulders.

"Well I wasn't planning on learning a whole hip hop routine." You sarcastically replied, to which you got a nudge.

"Look, I just put some nice, slow music on and thought that... that maybe a small dance could make us tired." You shyly explained, your eyes falling to the floor as you felt a little embarrassed.

Scarlett turned around with a smirk, unlocking your phone and scrolling through your music.

"You have a whole playlist just for us dancing at 2am?" She giggled, turning the phone for you to see and your sheepishly smiled with red cheeks.

"It's fun, and i love when we do it." You admitted, wrapping your arms round her neck as her hands landed on your waist.

"You're cute." She smiled, just as you rested your head on her shoulder.

Then, in that moment, it was just the two of you. No one mattered but each other. The music played softly in the background as you held each other closely, slowly swaying to the music.

Never, until that moment, had you ever felt so incredibly safe. You were home.
