Warnings: Swearing

————————————————————

"Why do you seem more nervous than me?" Natasha placed a hand on your thigh to stop your leg bouncing up and down, she knew there was something that was making your like this. She could tell it had started the second they all met kate.

"I don't know, knew place I guess." You lied with a smile as you looked at her.

You have been driving for a while now and was nearly at Emily and Sues. You were dreading it, go knows what will happen, but also you wanted to see sue after all this time, you just wished the circumstances were different.

"Wow, it's a nice place." Natasha mumbled as she got out the car, looking at the fairly big town house that the address led them too.

"Yeah, it is." You breathed and joined yours and Natasha's hands together, walking up the front steps.

Natasha pressed the doorbell, causing a small tune to be played, alerting the two of your arrival. It was silent for a moment, until the click of the door and it swung open.

"Hey guys!" Kate greeted with a wide smile as she saw the two of you.

"Hey kate."

"Hey"

Kate ushered you in, offering to take your jackets, witch you agreed to and lead you towards the dining room.

"It's a nice house." Natasha complimented as she looked around, a smile forming once again on kate's face at the compliment.

"Thank you, we um just redecorate actually." She replied, swaying on her feet. You didn't say anything, scared it would cause something to happen.

So Natasha spoke up after a few seconds of awkward silence. "So, uh, is your girlfriend here?" Natasha questioned wanting something to do to make it less awkward.

"Oh right, yeah, she's in the kitchen. Sue!" Emily shouted as she led you both through the hallway and into the kitchen, where it smelt heavenly. You forgot how good sues cooking was.

"Oh they're here!" Sue turned round to face you and Natasha.

She was still the exact same. Nothing had changed about her. Still beautiful, her big smile and her eyes never left yours.

"It's lovely to meet you." Sue smiled at the two of you.

"It's nice to meet you too." Natasha replied, returning the smile. Though your eyes still looked at sue, you were so nervous that you forgot you were actually going to see her and it came as a small shock. Natasha noticed something and frowned momentarily before taking your hand in hers to snap you out of it.

"Babe, dinners nearly ready." Sue informed kate who nodded and took you back into the dining room. You and Natasha sat on one side of the table next to each other.

"I'll just help sue bring it in." Kate awkwardly pointed to the door before rushing out. You were still a bit gobsmacked so didn't say anything at first.

"You good? You look like someone just slapped you in the face." Natasha joked, resting a hand on your thigh.

"I don't know, i'm just not feeling great." You lied once again, and you hated it. You only had to get through dinner than you could tell her the truth.

One dinner.

A couple minutes later, both kate and sue came out with plates and dishes. Laying it all out nicely along the table.

"I've made us some steak and home made chips." Sue said proudly as her and Kate joined you at the table.

"Looks good, Steak is actually my favourite meal." You struck up conversation, knowing Natasha had sensed something was wrong.

"Yeah I know, I remember- uh Kate told me." Sue backtracked on her words, something that Natasha definitely noticed.

Sue just stared at her plate when she realised her slip up and earned a nudge from Kate in return. You just smiled it off, hoping Natasha would just move on.

The four of you began some small talk, there was definitely a little bit of tension and you just wanted it to be over. At one point, you were discussing poetry, how Natasha likes to read it, and Kate mentioned that she used to write some poems (well emily).

"Yeah, I love your poems." You smiled at Kate, only realising afterward what you had said, Natasha's eyes staring straight into the side of your head.

"Well, the one you showed me when we met, i'm guessing the others are just as good." You tried saving yourself which only just worked. What were you thinking?

You managed to brush past it within the conversation and continue about everything else. You were just hoping the rest of the night would be better.
