36: The Snake who wants to be a Dragon

I opened my eyes all alone like any other day. I can sense movement so I looked around even more. I taste the air basically with my tongue and it had the scent of humans. Gun powder. Fire. Are they hunting? Or is there a fire spreading and the humans ran into the forest? I started to move forward following the sense of the heat and I noticed a group of movement. Behind it I saw a giant orange yellowish blob. It is almost blinding. Something collides with my face and I fall back. I looked to the side and noticed the shape of a deer. I changed my vision to human like vision. Everything is clear now. 

I raised my body and noticed the fire and all the animals running around me. Gun shots are felt and I looked to where the vibration came from and noticed humans. They were laughing and shooting at animals as they get caught by the flames. I felt anger start to rise up and I started to use this opportunity and slithered towards them. I used the growing flames. Seems like my points to become a dragon will be in zero. Fuck. But suddenly I noticed a shadow above me. I looked up and noticed such golden form. I froze in my spot. Water droplets started to fall from a clear sky. It felt as if it was raining. The laughing stopped. 

"Damn dragons ruin our fun!" the men screamed out in anger 

I heard a gun shot and then the dragon roaring in pain. Great. I kept slithering towards the men and I just attacked them. They screamed in fear and I started murdering them basically. The moment I kill them I will be punished so my two thousand points will be gone and I will be small. But this dragon needs my help as well as this forest. I hate this points but I'll gain them back in no time. Right? 

I felt the landing on the dragon as I finished killing this humans. I turn to look at the giant golden dragon. It was bleeding by the shoulder. I wish to become like that one day. Once I finish everything I can finally become a dragon and no laws can tie me down. 

"Changeling I can see you have broken a rule... Just to save me and this forest..." the dragon seems amazed 

"Well of course... Seeing them kill animals and set a whole forest on fire just for fun does not deserve to live... Even if I lose all my points..." I say as I am slowly getting small 

I can see how his head gets closer to me and he looks bigger and bigger. Now I can't speak. I sighed out a bit annoyed. But I blame myself. My human like vision started to change back to thermo type. The dragon opened its jaw and grabbed me. I felt completely confused and he started flying again. My home. I looked down. I felt sad now. But I stared at the corpses of the humans. Seeing as their bodies were slowly going cold. 

I feel like I will get punished. 

Seems like I will never turn into a dragon. I just gave up all chances I had to be something better. In a way I regret signing that contract to become a dragon. A being who can change forms and breath fire. In a way I wanted to walk amongst humans. Try to save the forest. But in the end.

Now I got to wait another thousand years.
