The Message

It was about seven in the evening yesterday when I fell asleep. So, no wonder I couldn't sleep for the period of time I usually sleep. I woke up at 4:32 am which can be considered Mission Impossible on normal days.

I yawned and stretched, trying to judge if I could sleep any longer, if my body could handle any more sleep. It is very rare that I get full 8 hours of sleep but nope, the devil that my body is, never ever seemed to cooperate with my brain.

The main reason I was such a loser at school. But hold on, I am very popular on social media. How? You may ask and I wouldn't be surprised. I have an account on each social networking site which shows the fandom girl in me- gaming fandoms, movie fandoms, book fandoms- every single one of them.

With no other choice left I squinted my eyes at my super bright phone and my mailbox was full of notifications from social networking sites and gaming sites. One particular gaming site notification caught my eye.

It said, "krazy_bunny has sent u a message-......" and there it was. His message. Two letters which spelt an innocent word- "Hi".

Surprisingly, I did not feel angry or upset by his message but I felt confused. I sensed a smile tugging at my lips and my eyebrows furrowing. This word made my day... or night. Whatever.

I decided to reply to see this person's true colors- whether his message was just a starter for a huge smack down of two people trying to pointlessly prove each other wrong or was it just what it really looked like.

I replied with a "Hi". Simple yet sophisticated, responsible yet friendly and most of all non- argumentative yet polite. After doubting the necessity of the presence of an exclamatory mark or a smiley for about fifteen minutes, I chose to pick neither of them.

I lay back in my bed, imagining the kind of person he could turn out to be. Snobbish guy? NO! Cute boy with no common sense? Naah. Egoistic dude? Please no. Proud guy? Maybe. Normal gamer boy? I wish.

I slowly drifted back to sleep. I had just closed my eyes when I heard my mom shouting,"Jaz? Wake up or you will be late." I squinted and checked the time on my phone and it was.... 7:40 am! I had only twenty minutes to get ready.

"Wazzup, Kat?", I greeted my friend Kate. We both were besties since we were five years old. The first time we met, we ended up crying because we argued whose name was worse. Later on, we decided nicknames for ourselves cause we hated our names. People called me J and Kate Winstead was called Kat. We both loved it, call us anything else to piss us off and we are not responsible for the insults thrown at you.

Yes, I have another friend who was a gossip machine and a drama queen. She knows every single embarrassing incident of every single person. Cue dramatic music. She is none other than Chloe Smith! You picked your nose two years and seven days back? She knows. You cheated in your class tests? She knows. You wore the same jeans for a week? She knows.

But despite all this, she was the most trustworthy person ever... until you upset her and trust me you wouldn't want that. She is really funny and patient so chances are rare that she hates you.

I shared every single thing in my life with these two psychotic people who strangely made me very happy. But I decided not to tell them about my shameful defeat. Why? Because it was shameful. Apart from that it wasn't such a big thing.

I reached home and mom was waiting for me at the door. She was smiling as if to say, "I'm sorry." My dad had left my mum when I was only two years old. I dont know why my dad did so because my mom was easily the most prettiest person i had ever seen. Any way, his loss. So, most of the time it was my grandma and me because my mom would be on business trips. She worked for Google.

The sparkle in her eyes was back and she said, "I'm so sorry I couldn't be with you for the weekend, sweetheart. I will make it up to you today by..", she thought for a moment, "How about a movie and then some ice cream?", she asked.

I nodded and said, "Sounds good. Let me get ready."

I went up to my room, washed my face and put on some fresh clothes. Denims, a tank top with a crop top over it and paired with some converse shoes. Perfect for an evening with mom.

Mom acknowledged me from head to toe and said, "Niiiicce." My mom was wearing jeans with a flowy floral shirt and some flip flops. "Not so bad yourself, mom.", I said.
