I woke up with a gasp as if struggling to breathe. I heaved the surrounding air in and out of my mouth, my hands shaking on what I noticed, a cold black arm rest with grooves which had green light glowing through them. I looked around frantically begging the empty room for a small clue as to where I was. The room had two deep grooves running close to the ceiling with the same green light in them as my armrest. The remaining part of the room was covered in a smooth black metal and was unusually cold. I recognized it as a metal because now I was throwing my balled fists at them in a vain hope that it would get me out.
After what seemed like forever, I gave up and slumped in a confused heap on the same device that I woke up on. It wasn't any normal chair. For one, it was floating and defying all rules of gravity and two, I had never seen anything like it in my short span of life. As I thought about what kind of a sick test I was being put through and whether I would get out of there alive, it seemed like the green glow had somehow intensified. It gave the room an eerie look and the two grooves running high up on the wall now seemed like they were four. I passed out.
I lazily pulled opened my eyelids with a great deal of effort to see that I had company. Three devilishly good looking... creatures. Don't get me wrong, they looked completely human but hey, so did Nitor. They had hair similar to Nitro, amazingly windswept reckless hair that tempts you to reach out and ruffle it up. I would have done exactly that if they didn't look like the no-nonsense type and I was in no state to move an inch, much less, to sit up straight. It was as if they understood what was going through my mind because the one standing in the middle said 'Convert the pod', upon which the stern one standing to my left made some sort of a beautiful movement with his fingers and the next minute the back of my chair gently dropped down, converting it into a bed.
They nodded at each other as if they had all reached a common agreement among themselves and then they spread their palms out facing me. They were levitating my "pod" out through a door that had magically appeared right in the direction I was facing all this time. We had reached an important looking place that was completely white. It had a sparkling clean triangular glass top table at the centre. From the entrance it looked like an upside-down triangle and at the wider end, sat a woman who had a slicked back ponytail of black hair and wore a villainous black body suit that hugged her body. On closer observation, I noticed that there was a stiff structure that fanned around her from her waist with a v-shaped cut down the front.
She looked like she was in immense power because she had an air of importance around her. Her face had a ghoulish tinge to it which showed remains of long lost good looks. I guessed she was in about her mid-thirties.
The trio that brought me there balled their right fist, placed it on the left side of their chest and bowed. The woman acknowledged them with a nod and commanded my escorts to leave. Using a dropper, she put three drops of a bitter tasting liquid into my mouth. I felt slightly stronger... not better. She placed a gentle hand on my back and the other grasped my upper arm, she helped me sit up straight.
"I hope they treated you well. It gives me such joy to see you", she boomed, successfully echoing her words in the empty room. Then her voice dropped dangerously low, "After days of fruitless searching and wasted resources. Finally. It is like looking for a cent and finding a dollar", she smirked. I opened my mouth to speak but no words did come out. I was perfectly in the condition to answer but I just did not know what to say because I couldn't understand what she was talking about. I should've been like any other human to them. This was all so confusing.
"I can't believe it. The person who is my..." she sounded menacing now, "enemy's daughter!" .
My mother? Her enemy? An alien's enemy? I was begging for my mom in my mind as if we had telepathic connections.
A cold laugh of maddening joy reverberated across the room right now, grinning as if I was her reward and her grip on my arm growing steadily tighter. "In my clutches!" she shrieked and gave me a rattling shake so hard that my head was bobbing on my shoulders.
She threw me back with force, ramming my back into the back of my pod, which had converted to a chair again. She was scarily close to my face and I noticed she had deep set green eyes that she had opened wide in hope to glare better at me. She gave one look at my terrified face and stalked back up to her seat.
I rubbed my right shoulder, my free hand running through my open hair and that is when I heard a reassuring voice in my head as if the person speaking was standing right beside me.
Don't worry. It's just a matter of little more time before we get you out of there. I am really sorry, dear.
Not even my mom called me "dear". It was very odd because I was extremely sure I had never heard that voice before, not even a similar one. It was one of those rough voices that spoke in a gentle manner which always made you feel better. I dug both my hands into my hair. It felt like my head was swimming in the air and for a moment, I felt like giving up and closed my eyes desperately, trying to force myself into passing out but it felt like that liquid she gave me just wouldn't allow me to do so. So, I lay there in a sub-conscious state waiting for my mysterious savior. If she could just hurry up...
A/N: I know that I am completely horrible for leaving the story high and dry but next year's college for me so i had to work on my GPA, anyways now i'm on vacations!! So I'll publish a super long chapter everyday to make up for my completely sudden and unexplained absence for so long and trust me, it'll get exciting!! Trust me or not, but I am hoping to complete the first draft of the book by 31st of March so you can expect some unexpected updates ;) XOXO
