A warm feeling of someone holding me up with their slender arm and the other hand caressing my hair roughly.
"We are almost there, dear, almost there. Just a few more minutes", a voice kept reassuring me with the same voice I had heard echoing in my head before. The same rough woman's voice. My eyelids felt like they were carrying some sort of a burden and drooped down heavily.
Someone was using a dropper, similar to the one that the mean lady had used on me before, to drop aqua blue colored liquid. I instantly felt so much better as if I had taken a hot bath after doing a lot of strenuous physical work. It felt a lot like what Nitor had given me. The first thing I saw after becoming conscious was a woman with curly waist-length hair left open. But I couldn't tell if the voice in my head was hers because she just looked at me with a tired smile, kissed my forehead and said nothing. I closed my eyes voluntarily, not understanding anything, as the woman cradled my head in her arms.
I did not want to get up because getting up and finding myself in yet another unknown place would mean having to believe everything that had happened so far. I hoped with all my heart that this was just a bad dream and that any moment now Gran would come and wake me up saying, "Get up Booboo! Pancakes and blueberry sauce waiting for you!" I waited long for that moment but it never came. I wanted my dull, boring and uneventful life back and I swore to myself that I would, at no cost, ever exchange that life for anything else now that I knew the consequence. Cursing the wretched game that brought about all this, I grumbled furiously. I didn't feel rude doing that because I felt the absence of the woman that had been loyally attending to me.
I guess it was about twenty minutes before my curiosity got the better of me and I just had to open my eyes. I sat up and had a three hundred and sixty degree view of the room I was in, successfully blasting nitrogen bubbles in between my vertebrae. The room was pristine white and even though the mean lady's room was white too, the color of this room was somehow more comforting. I know it sounds downright odd, but this room was better on so many measures. It felt and smelled better maybe just because I wasn't a desperate, kicking and punching mess in here. The smell of the room was so pleasant; it smelled like gurgling stream with a lingering scent of flowers.
Then I noticed Nitor walking in with an unsettlingly calm face, making me almost cry with relief of seeing a familiar and known face. I pressed the heels of my hands onto my eyes until I started seeing weird and out-of-the-world colors. I just had to make sure this wasn't a dream.
"Mother didn't want to confuse you with a new environment because she believes you have put through enough already", Nitor started off without seeing the necessity of a proper explanation of what had been going on.
"Yeah. No kidding." I responded carelessly, in the most couldn't-care-less teenage-y way possible and eyeing him suspiciously for elaborations on what he had just said. Mother as in his mother? Or as just a figure of respect?
"You know pretty well that you owe me your share of explanations", my voice was, all of a sudden, cold and high, " The last thing I remembered before waking up in what felt like a prison, was pain so excruciating that I wished I could just die. That isn't something that happens every day in a normal, what you would call, earthling's life." I waited for a satisfying answer with my eyes open wide with unexplained fury, not once blinking, causing them to become slightly watery.
Here's the chapter I promised and I am not going to read the chapters even once before publishing because then I'll spend the rest of my life editing it so in case there are typos or minor mistakes, I'm really sorry but don't worry I'll polish it up after ending the book. Stay cool! :D
