Today was the last day before our final exams began. So, I was trying to have as much fun as I could even though it wasn't easy for me. After giving it a lot of thought, I had chosen not to believe it.

It was surely a lie. Just a random idiot trying to fool someone. Realizing that I was sitting grimly for such a long time, I decided to cheer up.

"Kate, leave that book for a minute, will you?", I begged her. She finally put that science textbook back and became her cheerful and bubbly self again.

Just then Chloe came and high- fived us. She saw the questioning on our face, flipped her chocolate brown hair and said, "I had a smack down with my nemesis Tyson and guess what? I insulted him so badly. You should have see his face. I mean, why is he so cray? He already has so many enemies blah, blah, blah" she went on and on, her big blue eyes filled with pride.

Cray. i hate that word so much. I have always preferred crazy over cray.

Crazy. Krazy_bunny. Bagel_crazy. Our liking of the word 'crazy'........

I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, frowning at my own wandering thoughts.

Suddenly, a perfectly manicured hand with pink, painted nails waved rapidly, close to my face. I shook my head like a puppy who had been tickled too much behind its ears.

My friends started laughing at me and I happily tagged along with them, laughing at my own silliness.

"Spacing out much nowadays?", Kate asked out of the blue. "I.. um..its just that...", I stammered like a kid who had just started learning to speak.

Kate narrowed her eyes, smelling something fishy and demanded, "Spill. Now." She snapped her finger, scaring me a tiny bit.

The bell rang concluding the end of our days of fun and the start of seemingly never ending stress. But for now, it just meant a blessing in disguise to get me out of this sticky situation.

"Bye Kate! Important work to do!" I said and dashed out of the door before she could stop me or say something.

It wasn't that it was a thing to be hidden from her. I did not want to tell anyone about it while I myself was so confused about it.

While I was cycling back home, my head felt like it would burst. So, I had to stop to remove my hair tie and just when I started to cycle fast, feeling the wind in my hair, I heard a high pitched voice of a kid calling or rather screaming out my name.

I stopped and turned back to see the little candy monster, Rose, running as fast as she could. When she reached me, she bent down and panted. I gave her a small tired smile and picked her up, making her sit on the seat of my bicycle.

She held our bags while I pushed my bicycle and strangely, she was quiet the whole while till we reached our houses.

XXXXXXXXXX

I returned home, mentally preparing myself for two and a half weeks of nerve wracking stress and sleepless nights.

But today was different, the sight of my house did not make me feel bored and sleepy, instead it made me feel energetic.

I guess its just my mindset messing with me. Still.

I raced up the stairs with millions of to-do things running in my mind but studying was surely not one of them.

As soon as I reached my room, I saw that a bright blue light lit up a corner of it.

Eagerly, I dropped my bag on the floor and creeped up to see what it was.It gave a sort of special lighting effects to my mermaid painting because all the curtains in my room were closed.

It was a globe of blue light! I couldn't tell on sight if it was a solid or not, such was its magical glow. I balled my hands into fists, afraid to take my next move.

Nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to be afraid of. Nothing to be afraid of.

I chanted it in my head, relaxed or at least tried to relax and inched closer to it.

My hands were trembling as I slowly touched it. Warm, semi-solid and with a silver colored, cold, shiny pedestal. That was how it looked like the start.

I was amused but later on, my curiosity started knocking on the door. I started feeling it all over, loving the way it glided on my hands. While I was doing so, I came across a rough spot.

Instantly disliking it, I ran my fingers back and forth, desperately searching for that spot. I finally found it!

I squinted my eyes to see vaguely that it was an inscription. I remembered having a magnifying glass left over from a fruitless summer camp.

I frantically searched my room until I found it. I wasn't exactly a person who you could trust not to destroy anything in a place filled with delicate and easily breakable objects.

I carefully shifted the globe and the magnifying glass onto my bed. So much for believing in myself. I thought it would leave a bright blue goo smear on my sheets but no, this heavenly object was too good.

I took the magnifying glass, shuddering at both- the coldness of its metal handle and the thought of what could be scripted upon it.

There it was- two letters that spelled an innocent word- Hi.

Hey friends!Vote, comment and share for more of such really cool twists.

Lately, there has been an increase in the number of reads and also in the number of people who are adding my book to their reading list.

But surprisingly, no increase in votes. :(

I would just like to tell you that for a writer who is finding a way for her story to get out and be discovered, every single vote means a big deal.

So, my lovely readers, I would love to launch the "Burn few calories" program!!
