I ran up the stairs or rather, flew up the stairs because I was in my room in just a few seconds. I was huffing and puffing but still managed to pace across the room, searching desperately for my... friend.
Why was I not accepting him as my friend? I don't know. Was I afraid of something? I am not really sure.
There were many strange things in my room at that moment. First, Bert wasn't there in the room and second, there was no shattered glass on the floor. I was expecting a huge mess.
"Um.. Are you here, Bert?", I called out hoping for an answer. No reply. I was getting nervous by the minute and did not know what to do other than launch a frantic search for him.
Then a series of 'Bert?'s echoed through the quiet atmosphere of my house. I searched for him all around the house for so long that I was getting to know it better. He was not found to be anywhere. I made the typical move that I always do- panic.
Beads of perspiration formed on my forehead. I wiped them off with my palm. That is when I remembered... the game. I could use the gaming chat box to contact him. I ran up the stairs as fast as my tired body could take me. I grabbed my laptop off the night stand beside my bed and sank into the soothing and calming covers of my bed.
I quickly moved my fingers over the keyboard of my laptop and opened the chat box.
bagel_crazy: Where are you? Tell me this is all a really cruel joke.
Even though I made it sound as calm as I could, it was pretty obvious that I was nervous. I waited patiently. I am not a nail- biter but if I was, I would be doing it right now.
Five minutes. Nothing.
Eight minutes. Nothing.
Ten minutes. Nothing.
Ping!
My heart skipped a beat at the long awaited slow response.
krazy_bunny: .
Seriously? A dot was his reply? What kind of a sick game was this guy playing with me? I was so upset that I threw the laptop in anger. I stared at it as it dangerously edged over the end of the bed. I reached out to get it and because I moved, it fell.
So what if I had ill- treated my laptop and used it as an object to release my anger? If it falls so does my heart. I still love it. I crawled over to the edge of my bed and looked down where my laptop had fallen. Thankfully, it fell on my fluffy rug. I gently hopped onto the rug and sat there. I contemplated and reconsidered everything in my life.
Maybe krazy_bunny was just a dream. Maybe it was all a lie. Maybe he did not even exist. Maybe.
As I was lost in my thoughts, when suddenly a bright blue light up under my bed. I bent down and craned my neck to clearly see what it was.
It had the same heavenly glow I had seen on the globe. Except this time the light shone and fell rapidly as if to convey something.
It was a message!
