Ava's POV

"hi, thank you for coming" Shonda smiles as I sit down in her office, "I wanted to talk to you about something"

"ok" 

"so, I know you've been asking about coming back and we're now in the process of coming up with something," she says as I look at her unknowingly

"I thought you were just going to ignore it or something"

"and we can still do that if you want but we've also been wanting a new topic to bring up in station 19 to bring awareness to it and we were wondering how you would feel if we wrote it in," she says cautiously

"I thought you weren't allowed to," I say, having read all the rules about how it was too sensitive of a topic

"We weren't but it turns out that as we're one of the biggest shows on the network at the minute, when we brought it up and discussed it for a bit, they said if we want to then we can"

"Really?" I ask, completely shocked as I knew they were strict about these things

"Yeah, they've been getting comments about certain rules and how they're discriminatory and they've allowed us to be the first show to explicitly discuss such a topic"

"so you won't have to tread around certain words or anything?"

"no, just the usual rules which don't really affect us. also, this is completely your decision but I know you've been wondering about the scars and they've given us to go ahead for showing them and not having to cover them up or anything"

"oh my god really?!" 

"Yeah, so if you want to do this we are in the middle of adding it to the script"

"of course ill do it! who wouldn't want to be on the first show to ever do that"

"ok, that's great, we've got the next table read tomorrow for the next few episodes and it should be in there" she smiles, clearly excited

"ok, I will let you tell people tomorrow because its clearly a big thing a writer needs to say" I smile

"thank you," she says excitedly

I managed to go the whole day without Dani getting suspicious which was harder than I thought as she's always watching me. 

"Why does Shonda look extremely excited?" Dani asks us as we sit down

"I don't know" I shrug, everyone looking confused 

"table read number 2!" she says, getting everyone's attention, "so I think we're reading 4 or 5 episodes today so it's quite a long one and part of it's still being written if it seems a bit weird. a few announcements to make: we have a date for coming back after the winter finale," she starts, telling everyone a date, "and just so you know, the only other person in the room that knows this is isabella but we have just recently added something to the script, with her permission of course but ABC has given us the go-ahead to be the first show on their network to explicitly discuss self-harming topics and even show scars" she says as Danielle is quick to look at me, completely shocked

"they're letting you show them?" she asks happily

"yeah, I mean, I don't think they know how bad they are but that's their problem not mine" I laugh, everyone happy that the show will get new recognition

"so, when will we get to see them?" Barrett smiles, she's my type of person when it comes down to humour

"Barrett" jay says, hitting her arm playfully
