There was tension crackling in the small kitchen as Tyler held me in his arms, refusing to let go. McKenna scrutinized our position with envy and smothered me with malice. I wriggled in Tyler's arms but for some unfathomable reason he held on.
And I stayed put because I trusted his touch. Trusted his actions.
"Oh hey McKenna! Sierra and I were just cooking dinner." He said in a light tone, excitement seeping through his voice like honey dripping from honeycomb.
Like my inner excitement whenever I heard his chuckles or laughter. Almost. His chuckles did wondrous things to my body nothing could come as close.
Except I had no idea why he'd sound that excited.
"Mmm." McKenna hummed distractedly, our entwined arms her sole focus. She stepped closer to us and we were forced to detach from each other.
Pushing between us, she subtly knocked me a little farther away as she took out a glass and held it under the tap.
We watched in silence as she barely took a sip from the glass and placed it back down.
"So what are you cooking?" She questioned.
"I was thinki-" I started only to be cut off by Tyler. He reached across McKenna, taking my hand and dragging me over to him.
"How about pasta with red sauce? Hmm?" Stumbling over his chest, I had no time to figure out what was happening when he raised his hand to gently brush my hair away from my face.
The whole thing would've been less bothersome if not for the glint he had in his eyes. It wasn't so innocent but it got me feeling amused.
Bothered. Yet equally amused. Talk of conflicting feelings.
"Great! I'll season the meat!" We both whipped so fast to look at her it was unreal to move that synchronic.
"What? I'm helping to cook dinner." She had a broad smile that screamed fake. I had a feeling she knew it looked that much but didn't care.
"Okay." I mumbled in a small voice, finally getting a word in. Tyler slowly let go of me and together, the three of us maneuvered in the tiny kitchen, trying to put together something edible without McKenna burning me.

It was torture. Tyler was strangely touchy. He looked for every little excuse to touch me. While it was amusing at first, I didn't quite find it entertaining when I finally caught on to what he was doing.
