Chapter song: Beautiful by Anne Marie
____________________________________________Tyler slowly stepped around me and made for Lore, wearing an infinitesimal smile. She met him with bright eyes, head tilted backwards, face in the air. Someone was happy to meet my boyfriend. Okay, then.
I fidgeted at my spot at the door. Was he mad at me?
I sharply turned to Shay and glared. She jumped and looked away from me. I rolled my eyes.
Tyler kissed Lore's forehead and she grinned. He proceeded to sit beside her.
"How are you doing?" He asked calmly, like any other day in our lives.
"I have cancer, Tyler. I'm not doing any good right now." She deadpanned. Tyler narrowed his eyes in reprimand.
"Really? You must be kicking ass in there because you sure as hell look wonderful." Lore rolled her eyes, trying not to smile.
"You flatter me. But it's okay to say I look like shit. No need to be modest."
I didn't think he was being modest though. Lore was actually taking her sickness surprisingly well. Even with the symptoms of chemo 'wrecking' her, Loretta looked close to healthy.
"He's actually not being modest Lore." Elliot beat me to it. We all nodded in unison and Lore slowly allowed herself to be convinced.
"See? You're surely kicking ass!" Tyler said again and we all laughed. He looked backwards and caught my eyes and I felt like I wasn't allowed to laugh at his jokes.
So he was mad.
But he didn't look mad. In fact Tyler was looking at me softly. Like a calm, dragging look of tenderness and I was almost certain he didn't want to stop anytime soon.
I blushed at the knowledge. I was definitely a goner.
Tyler stood up and came back to me, taking my arm in his grasp and turning to lead me out.
"I'm sorry for getting you into trouble Sierra!" Shay called after me and I turned my head at the last minute to glare only to catch her making kissing faces and gesturing to an oblivious Tyler.
I almost barked a laugh because I realized she wasn't even sorry.
Tyler led us out and closed the door. The hallway was empty except an old couple cuddling and dozing off a couple of feet away.
An apology almost fell from my lips when Tyler tugged me forward and lowered his face into my neck. I stilled but willed my mind to concentrate on the feeling of his nose tracing the length of my neck and collarbone.
His thumb was stroking my waist softly and languidly but consistently like he was meant to be caressing me that good.
"Tyler? What are you doing?" I asked in a small voice.
