Chapter song: Cruel Summer by Taylor Swift
___________________________________________When we got to the cabins, I quickly entered first, collapsing onto my bed with a sigh. I was staring up the ceiling when I heard him enter with Sasha still clinging to him. I watched from the corner of my eyes as he laid her down on her own bed.
She rewarded him with a sweet smile and a kiss to the cheek. I swallowed and looked away.
I turned on my side so my back faced them as I listened to them muttering to each other. Sasha giggled and I thought I heard him whisper,
"Stop. It's not like that."
I sat up slowly, assembling the things I needed for a shower. Just then, Daphne entered and Tyler came over to me.
"Hey." He called, smiling that sweet smile of his.
"Hi.." I called and smiled back tightly.
"You okay?" His smile waned.
"Mmhmm."
"Okay then." And he knelt to be eye level with me. "Today is reserved for training for the games tomorrow. Why don't you freshen up and come find me so we go together? I want to show you around."
"Of course." Unintentional, but I sounded terse.
Before I could feel any guilt, Tyler gripped my chin and turned my head to face him. He forced eye contact and his bottomless pools kept me put.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing." With great difficulty, I pushed his wrist down from my face and announced, "I'm gonna take a shower."
I huffed in the bathroom. My jealousy was completely unnecessary yet no matter how much I said it to myself, I still couldn't shake it off.
God I was supposed to be bonding with his friends not see them as threats.
When I stepped out of the shower he was gone. The girls took turns in showering as well.
I quickly shot a text to my friends.
Good morning girls. You're all good?
Shay responded saying they were okay as I stepped out of the cabin.
I called Lore on video and she answered with Shay by her side. They waved energetically at me and I smiled.
I missed them.
"How's camp?" Lore asked.
"It's good." I replied succinctly. "Lore how're you feeling?"
She rolled her eyes and asked sarcastically, gesturing to her body. "What do you think?"
I'd reached the tents and proceeded to sit at a table.
"Did you make a move on him yet?" That was Shay. It was now my turn to roll my eyes.
