Marinette's POV
8:24 am
I walked to school with a bag of donut holes to share with my friends and a bag of croissants for Lila. Lila decided it would be best to take a couple days off from school to sort things out with her mom. I told her I would drop off some croissants at her house before school. I found her apartment marked with her nicely decorated balcony. I found her room number and knocked.
Lila opened the door. Her hair was messy and wasn't tied up like usual. She smiled at me.
"Thanks, Mari," she said, blowing me a kiss.
I turned bright red. "You're thank you, I mean thank welcome, I mean-" I got cut off by Lila's laugh. "Just get your ass to school before you're late again," she said. She took the bagels out of my hands.
After she closed the door, I was still the same shade of red as before. I honestly didn't know where I stood with Lila. Not even a week ago, we were enemies. Now, I act so flustered around her...
Like I felt flustered around Adrien.
Shit. "Oh shit, shit, shit..." I mumbled under my breath. I liked Lila! Oh god, what am I going to tell Alya?!
Whether she liked me back or not was a whole different story. She does flirt with me... a lot... but Alya flirts with me sometimes! And she does have a lesbian flag picnic blanket... but what if I'm reading too much into it?
After a few minutes of thinking about Lila, I realized that my crush on her was different than my crush on Adrien. With Adrien, I was always certain that he didn't like me back, that he could never like me, but with her... I don't know! This is so confusing.
I saw Alya sitting on a bench inside the school and rushed toward her. "Alya!" I said.
"Wow, thanks for the donut holes, but what's going on?" she asked.
"Alya, I'm over Adrien..." I said.
"Wait, really? Wow, okay! Is there someone else? Like Luka?" Alya asked.
"Umm, no..." I said, shuffling my feet.
"Who?" she asked. "...Lila?..."
"WHAT?!" she cried. "Geez, I didn't think you would take it that badly," I said.
"No, this is good! I always felt like Adrien wasn't your best match, to be honest. So, tell me EVERYTHING!" Alya said, pulling out a notebook.
"Well, I gave her the fox miraculous one day, and then it just...happened," I told her. "So you've gotten over the fact that she lies?" Alya asked. "No, I've just seen a new side of her, I guess," I said.
"So, what's she like?" Alya said, batting her eyelashes. I chuckled. "Well, she's flirty and fun to be around, she likes murder mysteries, she's got a good sense of humor, she's charming, she's really pretty, she's-"
"Okay, okay, that's enough," Alya said, giggling. "Where is she?" she asked me.
I sighed. "Long story short, she's not going to be at school for a few days," I said glumly.
The bell rang and Alya and I got our books and went to class.

After a while of working on the project Lila and I are doing myself, I was kind of sad. Well, at least I could always drop by her house after school. I sighed and opened my lunch which contained a croissant, a turkey sandwich, an apple, and a small cookie. Pretty basic, if you ask me. I left the rest of the pie Lila and I made at her house; I hope she enjoyed it.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. I looked up to see Adrien. His hair that usually looked glistening with sunlight and coated in golden syrup looked like blonde hair. His shining mint green eyes that usually looked like they were reflecting a full galaxy looked like green eyes. Plain green eyes that didn't make me feel anything that they used to make me feel.
"Hey, Marinette? Can we talk?" he asked, his green eyes looked at me with guilt. Oh god, this is soooo awkward. "Alright," I said reluctantly, getting up from the table and setting down my sandwich. I followed him to the bathrooms next to the cafeteria.
"Marinette... I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I'm sorry for having to reject you, I just..." he paused, tears forming in his eyes. He turned his back towards me.
I hugged him from behind. "I understand. I wouldn't want you to go out with me because you were afraid of hurting me. Plus..." Adrien turned around so that he faced me. He looked at me, concerned. "What?"
"I think I like... another... person," I said. "It's Lila." His eyes widened in surprise and then returned to their normal size. He smiled. "I'm glad you and her are on good terms now."
"Would you like to be friends again?" he asked. I grinned.
"I'd like that," I said, gazing into his green eyes.
