Part 15.1: Islandia

Marinette's POV

3:05 pm

I walked out of the school campus after a long day of school. I'm so glad that Adrien and I are friends again. Now that I think about it, Adrien never was my friend; he was my crush. Now that that's past us, I know it's a positive change but it's... well, it feels different, that's for sure.

My phone dinged and I took it out of my bag. Tikki was sleeping peacefully with cookie crumbs on my face. Do kwamis have faces? Or are they considered just the part with the mouth? Do kwamis have mouths??

Kagami hey, want to come to my house? I found this cool movie we can watch. Luka can't come bc hes with his crush, ill tell you everything later

Wow, I have mixed feelings over this. I mean, I'm glad Luka's moving on, but I thought Kagami had a crush on him. Is he inviting me over because she needs someone to talk to? Probably. After calling my parents tell them I was going to a friend's house for dinner, I decided to head back to the school campus to spend some time in the art room.

Just as I turned around to go, I saw an akuma heading into the school. My instinct told me to run after it and try to persuade the person who was feeling down to not give in to Shadow Moth's manipulation.

Lila's POV

I can'[t do this. I can't do this. I can't do this.

I glanced down at the news article on my phone. My mom...she got arrested. My mother is in jail. How did my life turn around so quickly in one day?! I've never thought of what would happen if I suddenly got stranded on a deserted island, but I feel like that's happening right now. I'm lost. I'm a high school girl forced to take care of rent, money, food, and anything a parent should help their child with.

I can't, I can't...

I saw a dark purple butterfly coming towards me and didn't realize what was happening until I heard a familiar voice screaming "Stop! Don't! Please!" It was Marinette.

"Marinette!" I said, reaching my hand out to hers and grabbing it tight. Of course, by then the akuma already possessed my bracelet.

"Hello, Lila," Shadow Moth said sinisterly. "You're stressed because you've been stranded in Paris without a parental figure. I'm giving you the power to strand everyone, making them feel the exact way you did. Do we have a deal?"

Tears were sprinting down my cheeks as I saw Marinette see the mask made of purple light hover over my face. "Please..." she pleaded. I tried to resist the overwhelming sense of dread taking over my body and mind, but it was too strong. I can't... I can't.

A purple shadow closed in on me, taking control of myself and leaving Marinette on her knees in front of the purple figure, puddles of tears in front of her knees.

Marinette's POV

"Please..." I pleaded. Lila became engulfed in purple mist and the mist rippled, signaling to me that she was transforming. I ran out the door to the bathroom and transformed in a stall. "Tikki, spots on!" I ran  out to hear screaming outside of the school. I sprinted out to see a girl who looked like Lila in a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses floating in the spy on a floating island made of sand.

She was holding a surfboard that she pointed at people. When she did that, sand islands smaller but otherwise identical to Lila's formed under said person's feet and they floated into the air.

"Lila, stop!" I begged, yelling up to the girl in the sky. She turned to me, floating close to the ground enough that her ankles were at the same height at my knees. She bent down and gave me a smirk.

"Call me Islandia," Islandia advised. She pointed her surfboard at me and a beam of light erupted out of the end. I ducked just in time and used my yoyo to go up to the school roof to look for Chat Noir. I didn't see Chat Noir, but Shadow Moth was standing on the the roof of the building. He turned around.

"Hello, Ladybug," Shadow Moth said calmly. I  flung my yoyo on him to try to throw him off the building. He simply took the yoyo in his hands and threw it back to me. He then stopped looking at me and instead stared at something behind me, with a cruel smile stuck on his face. I turned around to see Islandia pointing her surfboard at me.

Her possessed grin faded into a guilty expression with tears rolling down her mask-covered face. "I'm sorry, Ladybug," she said.

A beam of light shot out of the surfboard and onto the black cat superhero throwing himself between Islandia and I just in time.

Chat Noir threw himself in front of me to protect me from Islandia's power. The beam of light hit  him and the same sand platform formed under his feet. A familiar platform formed under Shadow Moth's feet, although Shadow Moth could control his. He floated up to Chat Noir and grabbed the hand with his ring and pinched the ring with his fingers, ready to take it off  at any time.

As he was sliding off the ring, I took my ladybug yoyo and wrapped it around the sandy island. I pulled on it suddenly and it lost its ability to stay in the sky, falling down faster than I could blink.

"Chat Noir? Chat Noir!" I yelled, looking for my partner.

I found the alley that I thought Chat Noir fell into. I turned the corner to not find Chat Noir at all.

I found Adrien, sitting in the dirty alley with the black cat kwami.

"C-Chat Noir?" I asked, staring at the blonde boy in the alley in suprise.

"M'lady," he responded. "Are you okay?"

"Tikki, spots off," I said, accepting the pink light transforming my tight spotted suit into my everyday clothes.

"Ready to go defeat the villian, kitty?" I asked, giggling and taking out a small macaroon out of my bag to give to Tikki.

"Of course, bugaboo," he replied.
