A day later, everyone missed Maya. Even the animals that bullied her missed her. They did not miss bullying her, they actually wanted to be her friend, now that she was gone. She was now so popular. Coral missed Maya the most. Rose and the animal scouts really missed her too. Now they had one empty seat.
"Okay guys, let's talk about Maya and why you liked her. After that you are going to tell it to me and I will write on a piece of paper and put it into a box that I made for Maya's memorial tree. Okay?"
"'Kay," everyone said boredly.
"Good," Rose said strictly.
Rose was a little more strict because she really wanted memories for Maya. To remember her. Every animal scout started thinking. They had known each other for about three years. It took five minutes for an animal to come up to Rose. But it was not an Animal Scout, it was Mo, Maya's brother. He was also with Maya when they were almost attacked by the pack of wolves too.
"Miss Rose, I want to take Maya's place in Animal Scouts. I will still be working on looking out, so I might miss out on some meetings. Can I join?" Mo said, jumping.
"Of course! You can take Maya's bed," Rose said crazily.
"Thanks," Mo said.
"Guys I have an announcement. Mo, Maya's brother, will take Maya's place and her bed. Is that okay?" Rose said to everyone.
"Sure," everyone said.
Mo beamed.
"Thanks guys. I just want to say, I am also a lookout animal, so I might miss some meetings. But I will be at most of the meetings."
Rose continued.
"Guys, it has been ten minutes since you were thinking about how you liked Maya. So any ideas?"
"Yeah," Mo said, trying to get attention and he continued. "She was always nice and kind to me and she was the best sister you could ever have."
Rose was crying tears of joy because of his comment on Maya, and she was writing it down on a piece of paper. When she was done she put it into the box that she had made for Maya's tree.
"Does anyone else have a comment?" Rose asked.
"Yes, I do," said Maya's best friend May. "She was a great friend and she always cared about me."
Rose was now scribbling words that May had said on another piece of paper. Everyone heard what Mo and May said they were thinking harder than they had ten minutes ago.
"Hmm," said Liliana, the oldest scout member. "Ohh ohh ohh, I got one, Maya was a lot more mature than me and I talked about poop!"
Rose did not write down the poop part, but she did write down the rest. Now everyone was coming up with something that they liked about Maya.
"I have one!"
"No, I do!"
"Stop fighting with each other!" Rose yelled louder than necessary, fluffing her wings so she looked extra tough.
