"Does anybody know how to turn the machine off?" said Rose.
They had just gotten out of the North Tower. They had been disappointed to find that it was empty.
"Yes," said Fyron. "I overheard Fred when he was working on the control machine. One of us will have to make a sacrifice."
"W-what kind of sacrifice?" said Rose.
Fyron fidgeted with his circlet jewel. "Um...you have to..." He paused for a beat. "Die."
Rose screamed. Then she took a deep breath, and said,
"I will."
"NO!" Gale shouted.
"Yes," Rose said sadly. "I am the oldest of you all, I will do it."
Suddenly there was a big kaboom! and North and Kennedy appeared with Jim
"They're under a curse," said Jim.
The Guardians were too dazed to ask who he was.
"We know. I will make the sacrifice," said Rose
"No," said Jim "I will."
Then out of nowhere North came out.
"I will die if it means the Master can live," said North.
"No!" cried Rose
But North touched it one millisecond before Rose could.
Then North fell to the ground.
Kennedy burst into tears when she saw North lying lifeless on the ground.
The others had tearful and confused looks on their faces.
"You guys, I'm still here, you know," said North.
Then everyone turned around. North's ghost, or what they assumed was North's ghost, was an opaque, light blue, very mirage-like polar bear. It turned the machine on and Fred looked at it.
"Fred, I order you to touch the machine," North's ghost said.
And Fred did, and he was blasted from the machine like North was.
