Chapter 10: The New Guardians

The animal control balls had done their job. Most animals in the forest were practically fawning over Fred. They were trying to find Coral, Rose, Gale, Fyron and North.
"Guys I know what Fred is up to. He wants power from the Nature Gem. He wants everyone to obey him. I felt like betraying him. Because he was the worst master ever." North said, trembling.
"North, I trust you to be a fifth Guardian." Rose had made up her mind. "Since I am the oldest Guardian, I declare North the Ice and Snow Guardian. Can you be trusted?"
"Yes!" North said, proud of himself.
Rose stuck out her hand. A rose grew from it. It had one hundred petals on it. It was almost as big as her head. When it bloomed it had so many gems in it. Possibly two hundred! She looked at it. Then she found the Ice and Snow gem. She gave it to North. North was honored to get the gem. Rose gently placed the gem in his palm.
"Guard it with your life," Rose said trustingly.
The gem sunk into his hand.
She suddenly gasped. "Oh, I almost forgot! You need a circlet!"
She then disappeared into a room.
North was puzzled. "A what?"
"Every Guardian has to wear a circlet," Coral explained, gesturing to her own. "They also monitor your mood. When you are feeling a negative emotion the jewel will get darker, and when you're feeling a positive emotion it will get brighter."
Rose came out of the room.
"Here you go," she said. The circlet had a silver band with a dark grey jewel.
"We'll teach you how to work your new power." Coral kindly said.
She said that because Ice and Snow was closest to her power.
"Do you want to start now?" Gale asked him
"So we can defeat Fred?" Fyron said, adding on to what Gale said.

Meanwhile, Fred was demanding the animals to find them. They looked everywhere. Until they ran into Lakelynn.
"Where are they, Lakelynn?" Mo yelled threateningly to her.
"You have to get through the maze." When she stomped her foot, it grew again. Lakelynn was not planning to murder but maybe just to make them faint, so she wouldn't kill her friends. They're not acting like my friends anymore, a part of her thought. She pushed it out of her mind. They'll turn back in the end. As all the animals ran into the maze, just like always she would poop out a fake map. Just now, at the dead ends there were guns. If the gun fired it would shout out an apple. They were not the killing ones, they only make you fall into a deep sleep or make you faint. As the animals ran into the maze they saw the guns. Of course they were scared. But when they shot out apples, they thought they were a tasty treat. So they ran around, hoping to catch one. Then they were all lying on the ground.

Back at Fyron's hut, they were showing North all the techniques they knew.
"North, once you become a Guardian, you have to make a hut of your own powers. Like all of our hut's. Can you do it? Also, will you help us defeat Fred?" Rose asked, helping North to put his hand in the right spot.
He stuck out his hand, with Rose helping him and Coral, Gale and Fyron watched. He stuck out his hand with his fingertips facing the sky and his palm facing where he wanted to put his hut. He sighed. Ice came out of his hand. He had imagined what he wanted his hut to look like. When North thought his hut was finished, he opened his eyes. He had done it!
"Wow, I'm good at this! Wait, Rose, I was wondering how you knew I needed the Snow and Ice Gem?" North asked curiously.
"Well I kind of studied being a Guardian and since I'm the oldest Guardian I know everything about being a Guardian, so I know exactly which power everyone has. I can actually see your eyes, because it's like a cat eye, I can see everything in a human's eye. Well, not everything, just the power that they can have." Rose said smartly.
Everyone looked at her.
"How do you know that?" Fyron said, with his eyes and mouth wide open.
"I just told you, I studied."

While the Guardians were discussing North's powers, Fred had gone to the maze to see if the animals were back. He was surprised to see that all the animals were lying on the ground. He thought they were dead. Well, once he saw the guns. He turned a corner and saw the Tiggitoes. Next thing he knew, he was trying to fight the Tiggitoes. Somehow, some animals were not listening to Fred, so they helped the tiggitoes. When the tiggitoes were finished with Fred they animals tied him up around a tree. The tiggitoes were surrounding him, so he wouldn't escape.

Back at Fyron's hut, Coral had an idea. A very good idea.
"Hey Rose, I have an idea. We need all the help we can get, so can my brother be a Guardian?" Coral asked pleadingly.
Rose was thinking for a while. She knew Coral's brother, but she did not know if he was ready to be one.
"Okay." Rose said, sighing.
Coral was celebrating, as her brother somehow made it past all the obstacles. He had just arrived.
"Wha' did you need may for, sis?" said Coral's brother.
"He has some talking problems." Coral whispered to them.
"What is your name?" said North, wondering.
"Ack'. 'Ost peeps cal' may Zap." said Zap
"His name is Zack, but most people call him Zap. Because it is the only name he can say." said Coral.
Rose was thinking which power she should give Zap. In another minute, she had made her decision.
"Zap, I want you to have the Energy and Electricity gem. Will you take it?" Rose asked Zap.
"Mmmh," said Zap, looking at Coral.
Rose thought it was a yes, but she wasn't sure. Then Coral nodded. She was right. She opened her hand and the same rose came out. When it bloomed, she looked for the energy and electricity gem. When she found it, she clapped it into Zap's hand. Zap was speechless. Once it melted into his hand, his mouth dropped open.
"Thanks!" Zap said, then he gasped.
"You learned a new word!" Coral said. She ran over to hug him.
"Thanks!" he said again, smiling while saying the word.
"Wait, you need to train," said Fyron immediately.
"So we can defeat Fred," Gale added.
