The way back {chapter 25}

Later that night when they had cooked dinner and of course Kate cooked and she really surprised Rick with her skills. Alexis had been talking non stop about all the things she wanted to do with William when he came back. Kate knew that it wouldn't be long until he would be back with them and they could start a real family.
"What are you thinking about?" Rick asked while they were washing the dishes.
"Nothing.." Kate said and continued drying the plate she was holding.
"Kate..tell me!" Rick said and took the plate from her and placed it on the counter.
"I'm just thinking about William. I want him back." Kate said and looked away.
"Kate we will get him back." Rick said and pulled her into a hug and kissed her head.
They finished washing the dishes in silence and when it was time for Alexis to sleep she had asked for Kate so she had gone up and helped her getting ready for bed.

While Kate was gone Rick sat down in the couch and looked through his email to see if he had gotten an answer about William but there was nothing.
Kate was doing so much better than when she first came to him, she haven't had a drink in over a month and next week she would be all clean. He wanted William back as much Kate wanted now when he new that he was his son. He couldn't believe what Kate had gone through it was hard to think the thought that if she had gone another month she wouldn't be up there with his daughter. He wanted Willy back so they could be a family and Kate could maybe move into the loft and they would maybe one day get married. They both were not sure of where they were in their relationship but he hoped one day that he would be the one standing beside her on their wedding.

Before he knew it Kate was walking down the stairs and he closed the computer. She walked past the kitchen and put on some tea and then over to him on the couch.
"Hey, how did it go?" He asked when she sat down by his feets.
"She was out when her head hit the pillow.." Kate said and smiled that beautiful smile.
"That's good.." Rick said and patted the spot beside him and she got up and sat down beside him.
"How are you doing?" She asked.
"I'm good.. How about a movie and some tea and after that bed?" he asked and Kate agreed and got up to make some tea while Rick was putting on a movie.
Kate was tired after a day full of being active so she fell asleep after drinking her tea. Rick watched the whole movie and when it was at the end he woke Kate so that she could move over to the bed instead.
It was weird being in his bedroom and sleeping beside him. Last time it was sex, sex and sex but this time it was just an ordinary day. When she was done in the bedroom still sleepy she met Rick without a shirt and without stopping herself she said.
"Hey sexy.." and smirked.
Rick was stunned over what she had just said but he played along.
"Oh hello gorgeous.." He said and walked up and kissed her.
This time Kate was the one that was stunned. They had to stop before it went too far so she moved away from him and walked over to the side with the empty bedside table.
"Can I take this side?" she asked almost a little shy.
"Yeah, sure.. Kate don't be shy, feel like home.." he said and walked into the bathroom to get ready.

Kate was laying with the back against him when Rick came out from the bathroom. He grabbed a shirt from the closet and put it on and jumped into bed.
"You awake?" He asked and laid a hand on her shoulder.
"Yeah.." Kate answered sleepy.
Rick moved closer to her and had her back against his front. He kissed her hair and held her closer to him.
They both were asleep in minutes later both sleeping better than they had done in years.

The next morning Alexis come and laid down between them and snuggled up with them.
"Kate?" She whispered.
"When do you think William will be back?" she asked.
Kate turned so that she was facing Alexis.
"I don't know sweetie. Hopefully he will be with us soon." Kate said and planted a kiss on Alexis head.
Rick was facing the other side and had woken up when Alexis had snuggled up between them. He heard Alexis talking and he knew she wanted to meet William. He had an idea that hopefully would work.
When they had been laying there for 40 minutes Rick had to use the toilet so he got up while Kate and Alexis was still snuggling in bed. When he was done he walked out and started breakfast. 'Some pancakes, bacon and eggs would work' he thought and got out all the things.
While the pancakes were in the frying pan he picked up the phone and called the agency that was in charge about William and hopefully they could understand that William had to come home now when his father was there too.
