Trust him

It's been a week since Avery left. Nigel hasn't stopped behaving like a kid who lost his favourite toy with Jace.

They were sitting and having dinner. Jace was on his phone and eating at the same time while Nigel kept on staring at him.

Noticing his stare, Jace asked, "What the hell is wrong with you? You haven't stopped staring at me all the fucking time!"

"Well maybe because I have no one else to stare at." Nigel responded, his voice laced with venom.

"Are we seriously going to that again?" Jace asked, groaning.

Nigel shrugged. "I don't see what you're talking about."

Jace rolled his eyes before he went back to his food, ignoring him. Nigel smirked before continuing his little game.

He started taping his fingers on the table like Avery would do everytime she would wait for her food. Jace raised his brows at Nigel who ignored him and continued to do what he was doing.

"Can you stop?" Jace asked, staring at him. Nigel didn't respond, he continued to tap his fingers on the table.

"You've been doing this all week!! Don't you get bored?" Jace asked, sighing. He was getting tired of Nigel's childish behavior.

Nigel stopped taping his fingers- "What would you do if I say I don't?" then he continued taping them.

"Nothing that you would like." Jace responded before standing up, "I'm gonna call your parents and tell them that you're coming to stay with them."

Nigel stopped taping his fingers instantly. "You're throwing me out?"

"I wouldn't exactly call it like that…but yeah- I'm throwing you out." Jace replied nonchalantly.

"Fine! I'd be more than happy to leave. What's my reason to stay here anyway? My best friend threw my friend out and now he's throwing me out too!  Way to go, best friend!" Nigel said sarcastically.

"You're behaving like you were in love with that girl." Jace spoke, "You don't even know who she really is."

"I don't care who she is, Jace. And I love her- as a sister. She's been the sister I've never had and guess what? You fucking threw her out."

"She couldn't stay here forever. This place is dangerous- it's for her own good that she left." Jace responded.

"I know you didn't do that for her safety. I know you better than that." Nigel mumbled, eyeing Jace suspiciously.

"Good for you." Jace replied even though he didn't like the way Nigel was staring at him. It was creeping him out.

"Tell me what happened then maybe…I'll stop being annoying." Nigel said with a grin. "I know you wouldn't really throw me out. You love me."

"I don't love you." Jace quickly corrected, "I just…care for you. You're my parents' friends' son."

"Aw Jace!!! I love you too, buddy." Nigel teased. Jace sighed and rolled his eyes by his actions.

"So…about what happened..." Nigel trailed off, reminding Jace that he should tell him about what happened.

Jace thought about it for a few seconds then he concluded that Nigel was his best friend…he knew him ever since he was born so he knew that Nigel would never betray him. Nigel is the only person Jace trusts after his parents.

He knew that he could tell him everything. Nigel may seem soft but he really isn't. He may appears to be stupid but he isn't.

Appearance can be deceiving.

Nigel is Brad and Lydia's son, which is the reason why he and Jace knew each other since birth. Nigel is only one year older than Jace and it's safe to say that he's taken completely after his father.

Then Jace told Nigel the whole story. He told him everything that Avery told him. He even told him about Ryan and Jackson.

"This is more fucked up than I thought." Nigel mumbled before saying, "Oh wait! Actually I never thought about it."

"Did someone ever tell you that you suck?" Jace asked, staring at him.

"Plenty of times." Nigel responded, "Did someone ever tell you that you had a crush on Avery?"

That question made Jace roll his eyes. Nigel smirked on seeing his reaction, "You really thought that she was a threat?"

Jace shook his head "No."

"Then why did you…" Nigel trailed off.  He knew that Jace already figured out what question he was going to ask him.

"It was part of the plan." Jace replied, telling him everything that they've planned.
