After Jace took Avery out for shopping, they returned home directly. Avery bought a few shirts and a pants. She wasn't the 'dress type' girl.

She used to wear dresses but stopped after that incident.

"Find out everything you can about Diana Wane." Jace ordered one of his men who nodded and left.

"You don't trust her?" Nigel, who was sitting across Jace in Jace's office asked.

"Trust? I don't even know her." Jace corrected.

"I know you don't even care. You're only keeping her here because she looks like her." Nigel replied seriously, "She looks like Avery."

"Which is the reason why I'm trying to find things about her- she could be her twin sister." Jace replied.

"What if she's her?" Nigel asked which caught Jace's attention.

"She can't be her- Avery is dead." Jace responded, furrowing his brows.

"We never found her body, Jace." Nigel stated, "We found the body of her dad, her brothers and her mom but her? We didn't."

"The body was burnt in the fire." Jace replied calmly even though he's burning inside. He didn't like it when people talk about what happened to the Lightwoods.

"You don't know that! It's what you've been told." Nigel snapped.

"Why are we even talking about that?" Jace asked. Just as Nigel was about to reply, a gunshot was heard followed by screaming.

The door to Jace's office flew opened and one of his men entered, "Boss! We have a problem- the Mexicans."

"Fuck!" Jace mumbled before standing up. He removed his gun from his drawer and said, "Get the others. I want all but one dead!"

The men nodded and left.

"Diana is in her room- alone!" Nigel said to Jace who rushed to Avery's room.

Avery, on the other hand was arranging her clothes when the door flew open.

An unknown man made his way to her and asked, "Come with us!"

Avery furrowed her brows, "Us?"

Then another man entered the room. Both of them had guns. The man who just entered the room spoke, "Come with us or it won't be easy for you."

Ignoring them, Avery bent down and took out her two guns which was in her boots. Without wasting another second, she shot both of them dead.

At the same time, Jace entered her room to find two dead bodies on the ground.

"You did this?" He asked, looking at Avery in disbelief.

"I did?" She asked back.

"Where did you even get a gun?!" Jace asked, staring at the two guns in her hand.

"Two guns." She corrected, " anyway, we are under attack so a gun should be the least of your worries right now."

"Right. Follow me." He said as he started walking away quietly. Avery followed him, her guns still in her hands.

"Help!!" A woman shouted.

"I'll take care of her- you go get rid of the others." Avery whispered to Jace who instantly Shook his head, "There's no way that I'm letting you alone again."

"I can take care of myself- it's been seven years since I've been doing this." Avery mumbled the last part to herself.

"I'll shout if I need help." Avery reassured before walking away from him, not allowing him to say another word.

Jace sighed before going downstairs where the Mexicans were while Avery went to see the woman shouting.

When she reached her destination, she saw a man pointing a gun to a woman's head. The woman was one of the housemaid.

"Tell me everything! Where the fuck is Vincent?!" The man asked the woman angrily.

Avery instantly shot the man in his back.He fell on the ground while the woman screamed at the scene.

"Go hide somewhere. Where are the others?" Avery asked the woman who replied, "In one of the guest rooms- I was going there when..."

"Alright. Go hide with the others now." Avery said to The woman who nodded and thanked her before she went away.

"Why are you here?" Avery asked the dying man in front of her.

"To f-free Vincent." The man replied, "He asked us for protection in return for what he did."

"What did he do?" Avery asked.

"Informed us about everything that Jace did for the past five days before he was caught." Those were the man's last words.

"Thank you." Avery said to the dead body in front of her then she went downstairs and saw Jace standing there with all the Mexicans dead except one.

He was a man with blonde hairs. Jace had his gun pointed to his head. "Speak!" Jace ordered.

"In your dreams!" The man spat, "I'll never ever tell you why we've came here."

"To free Vincent?" Avery asked, smirking. "Vincent was never interested in money, he betrayed you for them and in return, he asked for protection."

"He informed them about the things you did for the past five days before he got caught and you're welcome for the information." Avery added.

"How do you know all this?" Jace asked, raising his brows in confusion.

"One of his partner told me like the good boy he was." Avery replied.

"How did you manage to get in? Did someone help you?" Jace asked the man who smirked. He glanced at Avery who shot him a confused look before replying, "You shouldn't allow strangers in the house."

"Diana? Are you involved in this?!" Jace asked Avery angrily.

"What?! If I was involved, I wouldn't have killed them- I would've killed you!" Avery replied, using the same tone as Jace.

"She helped us! She's lying! Diana works with us!" The mexican man shouted.

Just then, one of Jace's man entered the house and gave him a file.

"It's about her." The man said, glancing at Avery. Jace took the file and opened it.

Jace threw the file at Avery and asked in a cold voice, "Who are you?"
