Jace rushed to Avery and wrapped his arms around her then whispered, "I'm glad you're okay." Avery only smiled and hugged him back in response.
"Let's get out of here guys. This place stinks—" Nigel said while covering his nose with his hands. Jace nodded and let go go Avery but held her hands then they left that place. They left Antonio's dead body behind as well as his men who couldn't do anything.
Jace didn't take Avery to her house but to his own private house in America while the rest went to the Italian-American Mafia base. Jace's house was big and beautiful. Avery stared at the house in front of her with awe.(A/N CREDIT TO THE OWNER)
"You live here alone?" she asked, admiring the house.
"Yeah— no, I don't actually always live here but when I do, yes, I'm alone" He replied. "Come on, Let's go inside."
Inside was even more beautiful than outside. As soon as they entered the house, they found the living room which was a little far from the doorway then there was the kitchen then the dining room which was in other room.
Upstairs, there were eight bed rooms and The largest room belonged to Jace.
"Freshen up" was what Jace said to Avery as he opened the door and showed her one of the rooms.
It wasn't as big as that of Jace's but it was big— probably the biggest room after Jace's room. Beside that, the other rooms were all of the same size.
Avery thanked him before entering the room. Jace, on the other hand, went downstairs in the kitchen.
He made scrambled eggs for both him and Avery as he assumed that she'd be hungry. When Avery was done, she came downstairs to see Jace's back facing her as he was cooking.
She sat on the counter behind him and watched him. He had no idea that Avery was behind him until she cleared her throat and asked, "what are you making?"
"Scrambled Eggs." He replied, not bothering to turn around. "I figured you would be hungry so I'm making for you too."
"That's—" Avery said, trailing but was at loss of words for a while then she finally found the right words, "—sweet, thank you."
Jace didn't reply, rather, he turned to face her and place the scrambled eggs which were now in plates, in front of her.
It wasn't until he took a good look at her that he realized she was wearing his shirt.
He raised his brows at her questioningly, "Care to explain why you're wearing my shirt?"
"Okay, before you jump to any conclusions—It wasn't by choice." Avery replied as she dug in her food.
"Yeah?" Jace questionned, unsure of what she said, "You're telling me that you went into my room, went through my clothes, chose one of my shirt and wore it— without having a choice?"
Avery tilted her head a bit to the head as if thinking before nodding, "Yeah, something like that. Look, I took a bath and didn't have anything to wear because my clothes were bloodied, so I had no choice but to wear one of your shirts."
"Well technically you had a choice." Jace mumbled before drinking some water. Avery raised her brows at him, "Yeah? What's that?"
"Not wearing any clothes at all." He replied with shrug as if it was that simple. Avery blinked a few times, "Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not like you."
Jace rolled his eyes, "You're talking as if you've ever seen me walking around naked. Anyway, you're going to have to stay here for a while."
"What? Why?" Avery furrowed her brows in confusion, "I have a house, as long as I remember."
"About that..." Jace scratched the back of his head, "You had a house."
"What the fuck happened to my house?" Avery asked, her grip tightening on the fork in her hand.
"When you were missing, my men—kind of— turned your house upside down and while looking for some clues of where you could be they..."
"They what?" Avery was impatient to know what they did to her place.
Jace sighed, "They accidentally turned on the gas stove and none of them realized it until..."
He didn't have to finish that sentence as he knew that Avery already guessed what happened.
"Fucking idiots" she mumbled before saying to Jace, "I'd like to have a...talk with those men of yours."
"Certainly not." Jace shook his head, "Anyway, I've already called a someone- a woman precisely, to get some clothes for you."
"I could've gotten hem myself." She replied.
"Sure but you know, you were kidnapped and weren't exactly here so..." Jace said sarcastically which made her roll her eyes but smiled nonetheless.
