Ophelia loved children. She loved the way they learn to copy you, or the way they smile when you make them laugh,or the way they learn to walk one small step at a time.

The little things make it so precious, Ophelia always wanted to grow up and have kids and live with them in a nice house with a garden full of roses.

But once she turned 10 she hated the idea, she hated the way she felt, like she was alone, No one there to save her. She didn't want that happening to her own children. She hated roses. Red ones especially. She saw her mothers face in the petals. She saw the blood dripping from it.

She saw the sadness hidden in something so beautiful. She saw the way a flower would bloom every morning because people would be around to see it. But she also saw the way it died down at night, because no one was there to see it.

She saw through people. She saw the sadness they kept Inside, but her mothers. She didn't know her mother was struggling. She didn't know her mother couldn't do it anymore. All she saw was her mothers beautiful face smiling all day. She didn't see that at night when Ophelia was sleeping, her mother would be crying in her bedroom. She didn't see the way her mother would try to stop eating and drinking and even sleeping.

But she most definitely didn't see the way her mother would leave the house everyday. To buy drugs. She didn't know. Until she saw her mother on the floor. Frothing at the mouth. The cuts on her hand. The empty bottle of pills on the ground. The rose lying in the pool of blood.

Ophelia was now staying up. In the living room by herself, while Dean was sleeping in the room above her. She swayed to the music. Her eyes closed. Holding a picture of her mother. Dancing with her ghost.

She smiled. She felt her mother standing with her. She saw her mothers beautiful face. Smiling. If only she was here.
