You were progressing in record time. Before you new it it was time to push. Bucky held your hand in his using his metal arm to occasional run his fingers through your hair the entire time your were pushing. You were ready to give up when Bucky said, "You can do it Doll, just a little bit longer. The head is out." He kisses the hand he's holding.
"I just need one more big push," the doctor said. You give it your all and push as hard as you can. You let out a sigh of relief when you hear the sound of your daughter crying. Bucky helps you with your gown so the doctor can place baby Sarah on your bare chest.
"Dad do you want to cut the chord?" The doctor asks Bucky.
"Oh I'm not-" Bucky starts to say
"Please Buck," you beg giving him the puppy eyes that he never could resist. The ones that you used on him all those years ago that resulted in him getting you pregnant.
Buck cuts the chord. The nurses take Sarah for a few moments to weigh her, get her measurements, and her foot prints. Bucky holds Sarah while you sign the birth certificate. After the nurse leaves to give you some alone time Bucky places Sarah on your chest.
"She's beautiful Bucky," you kiss the top of her head.
"She looks like you," he says as he sits beside you. "Steve would be proud of you y/n" you smile and kiss his cheek, Bucky blushes at your sudden affection.
"I know. I just wish he was here to see her." You tear up. "It was so hard staying in hiding for so long knowing I was pregnant."
"I know baby girl, I mean y/n. Sorry" he blushes. Baby girl was one of his special names for you back when you were dating.
You all sit in silence as Sarah sleeps on your chest. Pretty soon you start to fall asleep so Bucky offers to hold Sarah so you can sleep.
"Thanks buck," you yawn, "oh and take your shirt off remember how skin to skin contact is important in the early stages?"
"I think you just miss my abs," Bucky jokes. You shake your head as he takes his shirt off and then picks Sarah up. He holds her against his bare muscular chest with his right arm (not wanting to use his metal arm and make her cold) while he uses his other arm to cover you with the blankets. You look over and smile at Bucky as he lays in the recliner with your daughter on his chest. You drift off to sleep thinking about all the memories and fun times to come with your daughter.
After only being asleep for fifteen minutes the nurse and doctor come back and tell you it's time to push out the placenta. Bucky places Sarah in the bassinet, puts his shirt on, and takes your hand once again as the doctor pushes on your stomach causing you to gasp at the sudden pain. In a few minutes it's over and the medical staff leave you once again.
After four more days the doctors send you home. Bucky stays with you the whole time. You make your way up to your apartment Bucky follows you carrying the bags and the empty baby carrier as while you carry a crying Sarah into the apartment. Bucky places the carrier by the door and your bag in your room while you get comfortable on the couch. He joins you a few moments later as you try to console Sarah. "I think she's hungry," you say and you rock her side to side in an attempt to comfort her.
"Could be," Bucky says kissing Sarah on the head.
You hand Sarah over to him, "hold her for a sec?" You carefully remove your shirt and undo the snap on your bra exposing your breast. Bucky hands Sarah back to you and she immediately latches on. Bucky stands up and says, "I'm going to get a glass of water? Can I get you one too?"
"Yes please," you say as he walks to the kitchen
A/N: change to Buckys POV
I headed to the kitchen and grabbed two glasses and filled them with ice. I opened the fridge and took the water pitcher out and filled the glasses. I paused for a moment leaning on the counter. "Come on Bucky, it's over with y/n. You broke her heart and abandoned her when she needed you the most. You lost your chance you need to get over her." I took a deep breath before I grabbed the glasses and headed back to the living room and sat down beside y/n. I handed her a glass and smiled weekly.
"Thanks," she said taking a sip and handing it back to me so I could put it on the coffee table in front of the couch. After a few minutes she moved Sarah to her left breast leaving the right one exposed. I looked away embarrassed which she must have noticed because she immediately covered up after glancing at me for only a second. I mean it's not that I haven't seen them before but things were different now. I wasn't her boyfriend anymore. I was just the guy who broke her heart a monster even.
