Chris shifted in bed, cuddling up next to her boyfriend, Andrew. She opened her eyes as he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to his body.
"Can't sleep?" She asked, looking up at him.
Andrew shook his head. "I wish you could stay here with me instead of leaving," he sighed.
Chris understood why her boyfriend was upset. She'd been staying at his place in Los Angeles for the past couple of months for work. She was an agent to celebrities and she had a few clients who working in LA. It was through her job she met Andrew ten years ago. His agent worked in the same office where she worked and the day their eyes met, that was it for the two of them. They started dating soon after and were still going strong after all those years.
"I know," she said, playing with is hair. "But I have to go back to New York City."
Chris was from New York City and she shared her apartment with Andrew whenever he was in town. He was working on a project and wouldn't be able to go back to New York for a few more months where he was going to be filming a movie. Spending months apart was nothing new for them, but as time went by, the more time they weren't together, the harder it got.
Chris got up from the bed, but Andrew grabbed her hand, pulling her back onto the bed.
"Don't go," he said.
Chris climbed on top of him and kissed him.
"You know I have to go. I have to get back to the office. I was only able to spend this time with you because of my latest client."
Chris had just taken on Richard Madden as a client and she had to meet with him to discuss his movie premieres coming up as well as future projects. That being added to her other clients' projects left her staying in LA longer than she originally planned. She lucked out that Andrew was already at his place here when she flew out for work.
"Can't you take a vacation? I mean, this couldn't really be considered a vacation if you were working the whole time. Can it?" Andrew kissed her back.
"I know, but it was still a long time out of the office. I have to see what offers have come in for clients and get in touch with them. The longer I stay away, the more the work is going to build up." She rested her head on his chest. "We've been through this before."
Andrew pushed Chris' hair behind her ear. He didn't want to say goodbye to his girlfriend. It was going to be another month or so until he would be able to go back to NYC and that was a month too long.
"Still doesn't make it any easier," he said.
It never did get any easier when they had to say their goodbyes. But for some reason, today's was starting to feel like the hardest one.
"Andrew, it's only going to be for a month. And then you'll be back in New York. Plus, you're going to be busy filming here while I'm gone, I'm sure the time will fly by."
This conversation wasn't going to end the way either of them wanted it too. Andrew nodded and kissed Chris again before letting her get off the bed.
"Will you at least let me drive you to the airport?" He asked.
Chris knew Andrew wanted the two of them to spend every little second they had together. She couldn't say no.
"Yes," she smiled.
Andrew got out of the bed and walked over to Chris. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed the top of her head.
This right here was what Chris was going to miss while she was away. The feeling of warmth she felt when she was in his arms. She closed her eyes, resting her head against his chest. She knew she had the same thing going through her mind that Andrew was thinking. How were they going to spend this time apart?
"You know what?" She pulled away, drying the tears falling from her eyes." We're going to be calling each other every day. It's not like we won't be talking."
"You're right." Andrew smiled. "And forget calling. We'll be FaceTiming each other."
"Yes, that's even better." She reached up to kiss him. "I better get ready if I want to get to the airport in time." She looked down briefly and then back up at Andrew, a smile on her face. "You can join me, if you'd like."
"I would love to do nothing more than that right now, but I know if I did, then you'll end up missing your plane."
Chris laughed. She knew all too well what happens whenever they decided to get ready together. They've been late to many events before for that very reason.
"I won't be long," she kissed him and grabbed her clothes before going into the bathroom.

Andrew pulled into a parking space at the airport and helped Chris get her bags out of the car. He walked her into the airport and Chris could tell this was breaking his heart as much as it was breaking hers.
"I can manage from here on my own," she said. It wasn't that she wanted to get away from him, but she knew him walking inside was only going to make it harder when it was time to board the plane.
"No, I want to be with you. I want to spend every last second I can get in with you before you have to leave."
Andrew carried her bags into the airport and found seats for them in the waiting room. There was still three hours left before Chris' flight. She rested her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes.
