Andrew looked at his fiance, the color draining from his face. He didn't know what was going on, but he feared the worst.
"You're calling off the wedding, aren't you?" he looked down.
"What?" Chris was shocked by his question. "What are you talking about?"
"I knew something was wrong from the moment I walked in and now I know what it is. You're calling off the wedding. You're breaking up with me," he started to panic.
"Andrew, would you calm down. I'm not breaking up with you. Far from it," Chris said.
"You're not?" Andrew took a deep breath and tried to calm down.
"No," Chris gave a small smile. "Umm...I don't even know how to tell you this, other than just showing this to you." She handed him the sonogram and waited for his reaction.
Andrew looked at the sonogram and then at his fiance before bringing his eyes back to the sonogram. "I...I don't understand." He stared at it for a few minutes before it clicked. "Wait. Is this?" He looked up at Chris. "Are we?"
Chris didn't know by his reaction if he was happy or not. "We are."
"How...how long have you known?" Andrew was still in shock.
"A few days ago," Chris looked down. They had talked on the phone every day he was away, including the day she found out, but she didn't tell him over the phone. She still had no idea at the time when she was going to tell him or how.
Andrew closed his eyes, trying to comprehend everything. He was getting the biggest news he ever received at once. "Why? Why didn't you tell me then?" He asked, opening his eyes and looking at his fiance. "We've been talking on the phone every day. Why didn't you tell me when you found out?"
"I know I should've told you, but then you told me that day that it was a good idea we were waiting to try for a baby, I didn't know how to tell you. And I didn't think this was news to tell over the phone. I didn't know how you were going to react."
"Shit," Andrew muttered.
"I knew it. You're mad," Chris said. "This is why I didn't want to tell you."
"Love, I'm not mad. Not mad at all. I'm mad at myself for saying that to you and making you think I wouldn't want this baby."
Chris looked into his eyes. "You mean, you're happy about the baby?"
"Happy? Happy doesn't even begin to describe how I feel." Tears welled up in his eyes as he looked at the sonogram again before putting it down on the nightstand. He turned to Chris and wrapped his hand in her hair before pulling her into a kiss. He pulled away and smiled. "We're having a baby." He buried his face in her hair and cried.
Tears started to fall from Chris' eyes as she heard Andrew crying. She rubbed his back and rested her head on his shoulder. "Babe?" She whispered.
Andrew pulled away and dried his eyes. "I just can't believe this. We're finally going to have a baby." He placed a hand on her stomach. "We created that little baby together. I just wish I could've been with you when you found out. I hate that you were alone and thought you couldn't tell me."
"I was just so afraid to tell you," Chris said. "I thought you were going to be mad."
"Babe, I never would be mad at news like this. I have to thank you."
"Thank me?" Chris asked.
"Yes. Thank you for making me a daddy," he rested his head against hers. "You're giving me the most important role I'll ever have in my life."
