Chris looked in the mirror and saw the mark Andrew left on her neck where he nibbled.  "You know, you're lucky I have makeup in my bag to cover this up," she joked.  She walked over to her desk and grabbed her makeup out of her purse.  She turned and saw Andrew sitting on the couch, not saying a word.  He didn't even laugh at her joke.

"Babe?"

Andrew looked up. "Sorry.  What did you say?"

"I was just joking that you're lucky I keep makeup in my purse.  Look at the love bit eyou left on my neck," she laughed and went back to the mirror to put concealer over it.

"Yeah, sorry about that," Andrew let out a nervous laugh.

Chris turned to her boyfriend.  Something was wrong and she didn't know what it was.  "What's wrong?"

"Nothing," he shook his head.

Chris shrugged, thinking nothing of it.  He did fly out here from California and was probably tired.  She went back to fixing her makeup.

"Chris?" Andrew said after a few minutes of awkward silence in the room.

Chris turned back to face him.  "Yeah?"

"There's a discussion we never went back to before you left California."

Chris knew where this was headed.  It was a discussion she was hoping Andrew would've forgotten by the time he came out here.

"Andrew," she began.  This wasn't the time to have this discussion.

"Chris, you said we could talk about it when were saw each other again."

"I didn't think you meant now!" Chris said.

"Then when?  Every time I bring it up, you always say we can talk about it later.  Later never comes."

"I know.  And I promise we will.  But right now isn't a good time.  I have so much work to do.  And you've got all these movies lined up."

"Why don't you just say what you really want to say?  That you don't want to have a baby with me!"

And there it was.  They had this discussion so many times.  Yes, she wanted a family with Andrew.  But not when they were both so busy.  When Andrew wasn't busy filming, Chris was busy with her other clients and was hardly home.  And now, Andrew was getting one movie offer after another, they were never in the same place for long.

She walked over and sat next to him on the couch.  "Andrew, you know that isn't it.  It's just, look at us.  I have new clients and you've got so many movies to film.  It isn't the right time for us to have a baby.  You're going to be going away for filming and even if I stay here, I'll be alone.  And I don't want to go through the pregnancy without you here."

"Quit." Andrew said, as if he was asking her to do something so simple.

"I'm sorry," Chris shook her head.  "Did you just tell me to quit my job?"

"You're right.  We shouldn't be apart when the time comes for us to start a family.  Why not quit your job?  I make more than enough for the two of us to get by if you did."

"Andrew, I...I can't believe you would even ask me to do this," she got off the couch and paced the room.  "You expect me to just quit my job because you want us to start a family.  You're not asking me to do something simple.  You're asking me to quit my job.  One that I love."

"What about me?  What about us?" Andrew asked.

Chris went back to the couch and sat down next to him.  "Andrew, I love you.  You know that I do.  But we," she gestured between the two of them. "Are not ready for something that big in our relationship."

"We've been together for ten years!  How much more do we need to know we are ready for that next step?"

"Are you forgetting we haven't been together completely those ten years?" Chris crossed her arms.  She didn't know why it happened, but in the ten years since they started dating, the two of them broke up when he was filming the Spider-Man movies, only to date Emma, his co-star in the movies.  Chris hated when he did that, but never told him.  She had a feeling he would always call her and say he wanted them to give their relationship another try.  That happened twice and a few times when he was in between projects with other women, but they always ended up back together.

"You're not going to bring that up again, are you?" Andrew said.  "We've been together over the past five years now without a break."

She shook her head.  Andrew never made this easy for her.  "And what about if you decide you've fallen in love with another co-star you're with?  That's what happened when you did the Spider-Man movies, isn't it?  You called me to tell me you wanted a break because of that."

Andrew let out an annoyed sigh.  "That was in the past!"

"Oh, and you're saying that it won't happen again?  I believed you once when you said that and looked what happened."

"It was different during those Spidey days.  We were still at the beginning of our relationship and trying to figure things out.  You mean you didn't feel connections with any of your clients back then?" Andrew asked.

"No. And you know why?  Because I loved you and only you!  And stupid me thought back then you felt the same way.  But I learned my lesson when you called me and said you needed a break.  Not only did you do it once, but twice.  And then there were those little breaks after.  So, I'm sorry, but after that kind of past, you can see why I don't know if we should try for a baby."

"You know it's not like that anymore," Andrew said.  Chris shook her head.  This wasn't a conversation she wanted to have now.  She needed to get back to work.  "Andrew, I really have a lot of work to do.  Can't we discuss this later?"

"Fine," Andrew got up.  "I'll see you at home," he kissed her cheek and left her office.
