"It was a hard war, me and Prodigy both participated in it, but it wasn't easy." Began Dave, while everyone was drinking soup in silence, wanting more information. "Now put yourself in my shoe for a moment, and let's begin..."
(Everything below will be in Dave's POV)
I still remember why the war broke out, it was because of two brothers who had a argument, their father has just died and left them a will. Saying the brother who is still alive will receive the father's company and the land that his father owns. It's really just a fancy way of saying whoever wins gets a large amount of land covered in gravel, which was also why we called it the Gravel War. Anyways, the two brothers hired mercenaries to kill each other, and Prodigy and I were hired by Redmond Mann, yes, weird name for someone. From all the information I gathered the other brother was called Blutarch Mann. I didn't lack money back then, and I still don't lack money right now. But I haven't had a good fight for a long time, so I accepted the job. It's safe to say that was a mistake, not a big mistake, just a mistake. The battlefield were all covered in dead bodies, there were people dying every second. Even Prodigy, who was usually good at tanking bullets, had a difficult time, that was how hard life was during the battle. (Everyone except Zak and Jalea took a look at Prodigy and synchronized a sharp intake of breath) There were a few people that I took a interest in during the war. Zak (everyone looked at Zak, who was drinking some more cheap whiskey) was one of the mercenary I found interesting during the war. He made friends with Prodigy really quickly, since the food serving wasn't plentiful Prodigy can go hungry sometimes, turns out Zak only needed alcohol to survive, so Prodigy and Zak made a bond over food. Zak would give Prodigy his serving while Prodigy gave Zak his alcohol. Jalea (Everyone now looked at Jalea who was studying a needle) was a medic on the field, he wasn't as crazy as he is now ("Hey!" Said Jalea in the background) but he was still the combative type of medic. He usually heals allies with a syringe instead of the healing bolt gun. And he also uses a bone saw when a enemy gets to close. There were other skilled mercenaries that I saw but they either died during the war, are severely injured or left for a more peaceful life after the war. The war didn't really end after nearly 6 years and the only reason it ended was because Redmond and Blutarch Mann both died because of assassins. Before you guys ask, no I did not kill them and I still have no idea who killed both of them. But once the message got out that the man paying them was dead the war kind of just ended in a stalemate. Gunfire ceased and both parties returned home.
(Now back to normal POV of spectator.)
"Wow, some dark tales." Said Mochi once Dave stopped speaking, "So that's why Prodigy don't talk much, is he shellshocked?" Prodigy hesitated a bit, then replied with a simple "No." Mochi did not further evaluate and drank his hot chocolate in silence. Indeed, the story was a lot more depressing than they imagined. Jam wanted to do something for Prodigy but he didn't know what to do, so he simply rested his head on Prodigy's side.
After a while Force's wounds were healed, and the sky was getting darker. Or at least, it was turning into a deeper shade of red. Dave has set up a few tents for everyone, and even though Jam don't need to sleep, he still needs to recharge his batteries (Surprise, Jam is a cyborg.) Peep also went back to sleep since his sugar rush died out and he was really tired. This left Mochi and Prodigy out for guard duty.
Mochi didn't know what to say to Prodigy, and now that he knew what a dark past Prodigy had, it was much harder for Mochi to try and talk to Prodigy. Nevertheless Mochi still tried his luck. "So... how's your day?" Mochi asked Prodigy, who stopped to think for a moment, then replied "Lousy." Mochi wanted to ask why Prodigy felt lousy, but before he could talk, a sudden rumble in the distance made both of them stop in their tracks.
"Oh no" said Prodigy, "I forgot to tranquilize him." Mochi looked into the distance, and sure enough. A 14 ft tall men with spikes in his skull has slowly started to stand up, holding a shotgun.
Mag Agent - Torture was loose...
